Free Republic's Kristinn Taylor had his excellent first hand report linked to by Michelle Malkin below.

Readers of this blog will remember the name Joshua Sparling. In December 2005, the Iraq war veteran received a disgusting, anti-war death wish card while being treated at Walter Reed Army Hospital in Washington, D.C. for injuries from a bomb explosion in Ramadi. Last month, his right leg was amputated.
And this weekend, while participating in a counter-protest against the moonbat convergence, he was spit at by anti-war demonstrators. Via Allah, here's the NYTimes report on the incident:
In Washington, counterprotesters also converged on the mall in smaller numbers, but the antiwar demonstration was largely peaceful.
There were a few tense moments, however, including an encounter involving Joshua Sparling, 25, who was on crutches and who said he was a corporal with the 82nd Airborne Division and lost his right leg below the knee in Ramadi, Iraq. Mr. Sparling spoke at a smaller rally held earlier in the day at the United States Navy Memorial, and voiced his support for the administrations policies in Iraq.
Later, as antiwar protesters passed where he and his group were standing, words were exchanged and one of the antiwar protestors spit at the ground near Mr. Sparling; he spit back.
Capitol police made the antiwar protestors walk farther away from the counterprotesters.
These are not Americans as far as Im concerned, Mr. Sparling said.
Kristinn Taylor at Free Republic, which counter-protested with Sparling, has more. Jim Hoft posts a photo of Sparling at the counter-protest.
Shame on the spitter. May you rot in hell.
On a related note of outrage, Ian Schwartz notes a Hill story on how Capitol police stood and watched as anti-war thugs vandalize the building:
Anti-war protesters were allowed to spray paint on part of thewest front steps of the United States Capitol building after police were ordered to break their security line by their leadership, two sources told The Hill.
According to the sources, police officers were livid when theywere told to fall back by U.S. Capitol Police (USCP) Chief Phillip Morse and Deputy Chief Daniel Nichols. "They were the commanders on the scene," one source said, who requested anonymity. "It was disgusting."
After police ceded the stairs, located on the lower west front of the Capitol, the building was locked down, the source added.
A second source who witnessed the incident said that the police had the crowd stopped at Third Street, but were told to bring the police line in front of the Capitol.
Approximately 300 protesters were allowed to take the steps and began to spray paint "anarchist symbols" and phrase such as "Our capitol building" and "you cant stop us" around the area, the source said.
I'm sure Nancy Pelosi will get to the bottom of this brazen property destruction and demand accountability from the Capitol police brass for their refusal to guard the People's House from the vandals...
she will be conveniently unaware
give nancy a bucket and a brush and let her clean it up
But I guess this is what America wanted and voted for in the last election.
Just when you think the left can't get any lower....
There were plenty of people at that rally who deserved to be spit on. Jane Fonda stands out among them.
Anyone who would attend a rally where jane Fonda is present is not American as far as I am concerned, I dont even like being on the same planet with trash like her.
The link refers to Cpl. Sparling as Col. Sparling ... not encouraging. A twenty-five year old Colonel? They've obviously accelerated the career track since my tour in the Corps.
If ever an act shouted out to be declared a "hate crime", spitting on a member of the armed forced is it.
Well, it looks like this anti-war crowd is different. The lefties were claiming that there was no record of a GI being spat on during the Vietnam War. Does this count?
I'd make it treason.
Amen to that!
All of those old bags trying to revive their 60's 15 minutes of fame is like a bad dream.
I'm reminded of the movie "Groundhog Day."
"you can't stop us" and they didn't.
Why Do Liberal Media Despise Our Soldiers?
Rabbi Aryeh Spero
It is because the liberal moralizer deep down knows that he does not have the physical courage and might of the soldier. Compared to the soldier, he is a coward and weakling. His strength lies only in bringing law suits and sounding morally superior to the rest of us.
The liberal moralizer needs to tear down the U.S. soldier as a way of guaranteeing that the soldier is never elevated to a more honored level in American life than is he, the liberal moralizer. Tear down the soldier and you destroy the honor we feel toward that soldier. Find anything to show you are better than the soldier so that you and your smug liberal friends can celebrate your superiority. Liberal media guys cannot abide that America has heroes who are not them.
For the media, the heroes are Woodward and Bernstein or Washington Post and New York Times reporters who splash across the world U.S. national security secrets. They admire not those who defend but who tear down. Many entered the business for precisely that reason: to indict our institutions and ways.
By and large, certain very liberal cosmopolitan men are jealous of what the soldier can do, and have a desire, a need, to destroy the object of their envy.
Ping. And for your DC Chapter fellow Americans who were there this weekend.
It looks like a typo .. but go ahead an pay more attention to that then what actually happened
BTTT!
Nancy was not even in town. What was the exchange of words between the two????
