Former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani is the favourite Republican United States presidential contender for voters in the Garden State, according to a poll by the Quinnipiac University Polling Institute. 48 per cent of respondents in New Jersey would vote for Giuliani in a head-to-head contest against Democratic New York senator Hillary Rodham Clinton.
In other match-ups, Rodham Clinton holds a one-point edge over Arizona senator John McCain, and a 24-point advantage over former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney. McCain leads former North Carolina senator John Edwards by six points, and Illinois senator Barack Obama by three points.
In 2004, Democratic nominee John Kerry carried New Jersey’s 15 electoral votes, with 53 per cent of the vote. No Republican has won the Garden State since George H. Bush in 1988.
Incumbent George W. Bush is ineligible for a third term in office. The next United States presidential election is scheduled for November 2008.

Rudy in NJ? Don't believe that for a second, Menedez was as crooked as snake and still easily won election in Jersey.

I love this kind of news! I have been running into more and more people in OK that support Rudy and then it hit me -- Rudy was one of the first people to offer support to Gov Keating after the OKC Bombing. Then Gov Keating did the same to Rudy after 9-11 since we had been through our bombing he thought we could send some help which Gov Keating did. Everyone I have talked to loves Rudy.
Think that is why Gov Keating decided not to run! Wouldn't surprise me to see him as VP or Attorney General. Think I will change my tagline to Rudy/Keating! Two guys that went through terrorism bombings and support our military 100%!

This is conservatism, especially in the most liberal city in America, and Rudy is more fiscally conservative than even the great Duncan Hunter is, who voted for the Medicare D boondoggle, the unconstitutional CFR, and the No Child Left Behind co-written by Ted Kennedy.
Yes, Rudy's social liberalism is disturbing but abortion and gay marriage are states issues. SD and Utah are already pushing abortion bans. Here in WI we passed gay marriage ban overwhelmingly. As for gun control Rudy would be a fool to run on gun control, so I trust that'll explain & denounce his anti-gun past.

Hillary is not popular anywhere. It will take two years of a massive Clintonista propaganda campaign to give her a chance of winning.
As you might know, I put the war greatly above social issues. I am a devout conservative but my first devotion goes to the troops and all who lead in this war.

I believe that if you cut the size of government, get rid of the handouts, and reform the tax system, the social issues will take care of themselves. Low-income women wouldn't have abortions or out-of-wedlock births knowing that Medicaid won't pick up the tab. Folks wouldn't be using or dealing drugs as high-paying jobs would enter the market.
Republicans need to get back to basics. Energy, taxes, spending, limiting the size of the federal government. A President Rudy or Romney will do these things. They'll return the GOP back to its traditional roots instead of beating their chests about how immoral everyone is or whatever. Duncan Hunter is a great man but he's a Washington insider with zero executive or administration experience and is at best a Secretary of Defense position.
