Giuliani Strikes a Note With California GOP Testing the Waters, Former N.Y. Mayor Garners 4 Ovations

SACRAMENTO, Feb. 10 -- Rudolph W. Giuliani came west to learn whether his brand of Republican politics has a chance among party members significantly more conservative than himself. By the time he had received a fourth standing ovation Saturday at the California Republican Party convention, the answer seemed clear.

Equating the U.S. fight against terrorism with the Civil War and the Cold War, Giuliani told about 750 of his party's faithful that failure in Iraq would turn that country into a "massive headquarters for terrorism."

"Having had a job where I didn't have any choice but to make a decision," the former mayor of New York said, "prepares you as best you can be prepared to be the president of the United States."

I'm not "pushing" Rudy. I'm only documenting the conservative aspects of Rudy when posters misrepresent it. If you weren't such a dope you would know the difference.

Riiiight.

I specifically posted to you earlier in the thread that I thought that Rudy was not conservative enough. You then accuse me of "pushing" for Rudy.

Next time don't falsely misrepresent my post and I won't call you a dope.

Abortion is a big deal, but Rudy also fails on gun rights. Big time. He fails on military service. Big time. He fails on marital fidelity. Big time. He fails on immigration. Big time. He loses so many 'single issue' conservatives that his only hope is that the election is only on the coasts.

"Although Rudy may grudgingly say he doesn't support gay marriage"

Rudy says he's against gay marriage as I am.

You don't believe him so therefore you question his integrity and sincerity.

You should never vote for a person you can't trust.

My suggestion is that you should work hard to see someone with positions closer to yours nominated.

That's what the time leading up to the primaries is all about.

Though I must say that it must be extremely frustrating for you that a guy you can support is nowhere on the radar yet.

I am disappointed with that fact also but would have no problem voting for Rudy because I watched him daily when he was mayor and saw what he did to turn around what once was a cesspool into a great city again. And he didn't take any crap from the left wing slimeballs and media who tried to make his life hell. He handled it like a MAN and a CONSERVATIVE. And I am proud of him.

What really irks me though is the fact that at this crucial time in our history, when we have brave men fighting for our freedom, when we are faced with the most dangerous threat to the world since the Third Reich, the "conservative base" is in disarray and threatening third party candidates if they don't get a nominee who meets all of their qualifications.

This strikes me as not only self defeating but shows a sickening willingness to accept failure in the War on Terror, to increase the possibility of President Hillary and to surrender in Iraq.

Hillary is NOT an option.

I am pro life but no matter who the nominee is I will vote for him.

Because I love my country too much to SEND A MESSAGE and LOSE.

So you TRUST Rudy? Why? His first TWO wives found out what his 'trust' was worth.

Seems you can't answer my question, which to me says you have nothing credible to back it up except your own interpretation or wishful thinking. Makes one wary of everything else you claim as factual.

There is no issue that could be considered more important than national security.

You are correct, after a fashion, but, as Paul Harvey might say, "You forgot to tell us the rest of the story!".

Genuine "national security" consists of protecting, securing and preserving the sovereign, constitutional republic of the United States of America, which was established for the express purpose of guaranteeing the freedom and rights of its citizens to their lives, liberty and property, against all enemies, foreign or domestic.

It DOES NOT consist of using the threat of foreign enemies, however genuine, as a cover for the deconstruction of our Constitution and our Republic, and inevitably as a consequence, the loss of our freedom, rights and property.

Allowing our national leadership, of whatever party, to sally forth abroad and smite our foreign enemies, even destroy them utterly, while simultaneously allowing them to deconstruct and remake our nation into some "new order" and thereby steal the heritage of freedom and individual rights bequeathed to us by our Founding Fathers, THAT is not "national security" - it is "national suicide", at least of the "nation" we're supposed to have.

So, when you say national security is the most important consideration, I agree, but you need to understand that the threat is two-pronged - the "enemies domestic" are just as great a threat as the "enemies foreign".

>>>>>Let the record show that Reagan Man now twice has said that there is no distiction between the Clintons, Kerry, Kennedy, Schumer, Lieberman(sure throw him in, it just makes you more wrong) and Giuliani on social issues.

On the issues I listed, there is no distinction between Rudy Giuliani and, Hillary Clinton, Bill Clinton, John Kerry, Ted Kennedy, Chuck Schumer, Joe Lieberman and Algore. Let the record show that you still refuse to answer my original post. Rudy Giuliani holds extremist leftwing positions on major social issues. Making Rudy no different then other liberals I named above.

Jim is allowed to have his opinion, just as everyone else here is allowed to have theirs.

Until and unless he posts a rule that the ONLY candidates who may have threads posted about them are XXX and YYY and ZZZ......ALL GOP primary hopefuls have threads posted about them here.

Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooo....Janet specifically said: "IT DOESN'T HAVE TO BE A MAN."

She went on and on about "a mother's love" and what SHE had done, was "out of love for Amanda" and how she had never even considered the fact that what she had done, could have harmed or killed others.

Alex and Michael aren't coming back....the "SATIN SLAYER" is a WOMAN!

Wanna see "clueless"? Go look into the nearest mirror.

You have absolutely NO idea what it takes to run a political campaign and win. Neither do you know nor understand that what you and your pals are doing, is driving most people away from you and your positions, as fast as possible. LOL

I said way back on my first post of this thread that Rudy has an abortion, 2A and illegal immigration problem.

Go back and look.

Dennis Hastert, Dick Armey, Tom Delay, Trent Lott, Dick Cheney, Karl Rove, Newt Gingrich, Bob Dornan, Phi Gramm, Jack Kemp, JC Watts, Dan Quayle.

None of the above served in the military... that would make them according to you guilty of draft evasion.
