Giuliani: Gun control helped lower crime

Rudy Giuliani addressed a potentially troublesome issue with conservative voters, saying his policies as mayor to get handguns off the street helped reduce crime in New York.

"I used gun control as mayor," he said at a news conference Saturday during a swing through California. But "I understand the Second Amendment. I understand the right to bear arms."

He said what he did as mayor would have no effect on hunting.

Addressing another potential trouble spot with conservatives, Giuliani spoke in favor of a border fence, saying, "You have to have secure borders, you have to have a fence, and the fence I think has to be a highly technological one."

The nation needs to know, he said, who is coming into the country and why. But he provided scant details on how he would deal with illegal immigrants already in the country. Citizens, he added, should be able to read and write English.

Giuliani was to make an address Monday in Silicon Valley and he was to appear Tuesday at an agricultural fair in the Central Valley.

Asked when he would make a formal announcement that he is a candidate for the Republican nomination, Giuliani said: "Well, formally announce? I don't know."

Oh, he understands perfectly what the second amendment means and he wants to circumvent it. Rest assured he will take the guns from everybody. Duck hunting my ass.

Well in the West the party is a wreck. Kalifornia forget it. We in Nevada just elected our last Rep Governor for a long time to come and he immediately FIRED the Party head for the State. We feel betrayed and let down. Martinez in charge and Gonzales - WTF. The Mexicans run the Administration. No light on the horizon. Hillary will be the next Prez at this rate. Rudy - not in the West and Romney - not in the South.

I just donated to Duncan Hunter's campaign... the first time I have felt good about giving money to a Republican for a long time.

" If Rudy gets elected, then 4 or 8 years from now, we'll have to find an even more liberal republican to have a chance to win an election. The cycle just keeps repeating itself.

It's not really a cylcle. It's a path. Giuliani's been chosen to run as the favorite, because his policies are in line with the big money. They could care less about the people.

Here's a quote of what the creep thinks about Freedom.

"Freedom is about authority. Freedom is about the willingness of every single human being to cede to lawful authority a great deal of discretion about what you do and how you do it."

Rudy Giuliani

"I'm for stoping the cycle NOW!"

If this clown gets the nomination, I'm doing a write in for Buggs Bunny. Those that would toss a vote to destroy Freedom deserve her highness, the hen.

So far, George Soros has at least four "frontrunners" in this race: Clinton, Obama, McCain and Giuliani. There are proven links to all four. Even though Romney governed as hard left as any of them, I haven't seen the`Soros`connection as yet. Might be there, we'll see.

But, the bottom line is that, to him, there ain't a dime's worth of difference.

In a society where it is illegal for honest citizens to own guns, then controlling the guns of criminals can reduce crime.

Yeah, we have banned drugs, and that has worked out so well.

Rudy doesn't understand the law of supply and demand?

You ban guns, and guns will get very expensive, and those who wish to do harm will find a way to get hold of them. They will be smuggled in and manufactured underground. Just like drugs.

You ain't seen violence until the gun-runners start going at it.

Try a dose of common sense, Rudy boy.

I'm not getting too stressed out about the whole situation--it'll work itself out whether I worry about it or not. A couple of years is a long time in politics, and things may be looking a lot better in a little while.

[Giuliani] "Freedom is about authority. Freedom is about the willingness of every single human being to cede to lawful authority a great deal of discretion about what you do and how you do it."

Wow, that's quite a quote. Not much more needs to be said.

I'm with you. Forget those who gobble up the lies spread by this man Giuliani. I too am sick of hearing brain-dead idiots connect the 2nd Amendment with hunting, when someone address the issue like that you know the next words out of their mouth is going to be a lie--OR--if he's that stupid about the Constitution, we sure don't need yet another one like that up there.

Keep yer powder dry...

This guy is a real jerk-***. If he gets nominated, he will never win without the rock solid conservative vote. Four years of Hill, or four years of Rudy, what really is the diff except for potential SCOTUS replacements??
