Hal, the McDonalds is the one we always stop at on the way to Biloxi..
The OLD Wal*Mart store next to it, is TOTALLY gone..Trctor-Trailor Rigs are flipped over.
Most of the "Freds" store is gone..
Extensive damage to a very nice subdivision there ..

My impression of the report is that the cars were lofted up into the trees. Tornados can do that.

Prayes for Desha County and anyone in the path. My wife lived in Desha County as a kid. Anybody in here from McGhee who remembers the town in the early 1960's specificaly the lumber yard and train switch area please FR mail me. I'm trying to find out some info for her about where she lived. She was in McGhee late 50's and off and on attended school there in the 50's & early 60's. There was a boarding house across from the old lumber yard and beside Tibs grocery which is the focal point. In front of the boarding house was the tracks and lumber yeard.. Behind the Boarding house was the Bayou.

Colorado:
Last night there was just a smidgen of snow here but the winds were howling so strong you couldn't see. US24 (on the plains) was closed due to dangerous winds. The wind was heading stright for Arkansas.

FREDS and McDonalds would have had a lot of people in it.
I THINK the old wal-mart was abandoned, since they built a new one down the street..
It's a rural town, and most people go there on weekends to shop.
The McDonalds has to be one of the busiest in the State. Many employees.

The reporter on the scene referred to it as the "old Wal-Mart".
Tornado now on the ground moving toward Hamburg.

It's heading here now for Southaven MS. We have the interior hall closet and will be getting there when it hits.

They are relatively strong tornados, staying on the ground for a long time and moving fast.

Cindy, very FEW of us here have basements. Some have "fradie" holes outside.
