I am sorry that I can not link this over maybe someone else could. But the main point is that the va is not meeting the mental health of the returning vets from the war on terror. Large cases of PTSD are going un-treated & this is by the APA. Even though I put little creadence in what a large group of Dr.'s have to say but in this case maybe they are right. My question being are we as a society setting ourselves up for more crime by these returning vets by not taking care of them NOW.... Are the dem's really trying to kill off our socity by doing this? I don't know, and I am asking this of our vets of the FR for their valued thoughts.
(Excerpt) Read more at foxnews.com ...
do you have the right link or right title so we can find the complete story?
I also wanted to add that I have not had any issues finding the help I need at the VA, in fact because I am a OIF/OEF vet I get prefential treatment right now and am moved to the top of the list whenever I am in need of treatment.
Of course the recent resolution by Congress disapproving the role of the military in Iraq and Afghanistan doesn't do much to relieve PTSD, but it might just reorient the aim of its victims towards those deserving its wrath.
Is this the right story and title?

Panel: Military Health System Needs Help
The VA was alright way back when, but this is a government pig pen that should be shutdown completely and let the vets seek treatment in the private sector.
"My question being are we as a society setting ourselves up for more crime by these returning vets by not taking care of them NOW...."
Read up on PTSD. Criminal behavior is NOT a symptom of the disorder.
Thanks for the clarification. Your vanity led me to believe you were equating military personnel with criminals, something leftists do, not conservatives. Of course returning vets need help, but the VA is a large, impersonal bureaucracy ill-equipped to deal with the unique needs of these men and women. IMO, vets should be given vouchers to seek mental health care in the private sector as they see fit.
Unfourtenly congress does not see things that way! The more numbers that the va can show congress the more that they can press for more money... It is all about the dollars and who controls them.
I myself have been involved in a Men's group for my anger/rage control problems. Now I go to a head ijury group to help me deal with my day to day issues. And I have to PAY out of my own pocket for this, as that these people are NOT reconized by the va! The only thing that the va is good for is pushing meds at the vets and nothing more!
You are 100% correct. I'm sorry you're having problems. I'll pray for you, since lobbying Congress won't have any effect. Hang in there, Marine!
Bingo. When my son went to the VA after his medical retirement - the FIRST thing he was offered was valium and xanax, which he courteously declined.
The next interesting thing was all of a sudden a zillion docs in Florida have STOPPED taking TriCare insurance. He and his wife just had their first baby...and 3 days before he was born they were told their obstetrician was no longer taking TriCare.
It's chilling how little we've learned from Vietnam.
