SUSPECTED AL-QAEDA EMIR, ELEVEN OTHERS DETAINED IN RAIDS THROUGHOUT IRAQ
BAGHDAD, Iraq Coalition Forces detained 12 suspected terrorists including a suspected Al-Qaeda in Iraq emir during raids Tuesday morning targeting foreign fighter facilitators and the al-Qaeda in Iraq network.
During an operation in Baghdad, Coalition Forces captured a suspected al-Qaeda in Iraq emir and three of his associates. Based on intelligence reports, these suspects are allegedly involved in the production of improvised explosive devices.
Also in Baghdad, Coalition Forces detained two suspected terrorists who have alleged ties to al-Qaeda in Iraq and anti-Coalition Forces activities. Two suspected terrorists were detained during a raid in Mosul. Intelligence reports indicate the suspected terrorists have ties with an al-Qaeda terrorist who has coordinated attacks against Iraqi security and U.S. military personnel.Another suspected terrorist was detained in Fallujah during a raid targeting foreign fighter facilitators.Coalition Forces detained two suspected terrorists in Tikrit who are believed to have links with terrorists involved in explosives shipments from other countries and facilitating the production of vehicle-borne IEDs. In Ramadi, Coalition Forces netted a suspected terrorist who is allegedly involved in courier activities for al-Qaeda terrorists in Iraq.
These raids, taking place all across Iraq this morning show that Coalition Forces continue to make progress dismantling the terrorist networks, said Lt. Col. Christopher Garver, MNF-I spokesperson. The capture of these detainees reduces the ability of the terrorist networks to operate, and increases the safety of all Iraqi citizens, Iraqi forces, and Iraqs Multi-National partners, he said.
Feed them brat wurst and Oscarmeyer sausage.
Here is a transport vehicle for these al-Qaeda prisoners:
Let them have a dose of their own medicine. Blowdemup.
This press release is very similar to one yesterday, but obviously is reporting another successful operation.
I'm so glad that they found him in Baghdad, Iraq, instead of that other Baghdad where Coalition Forces are operating.
Is this "group" actually named "al-Qaeda in Iraq" rather than simply being "al-Qaeda" or is this a vain attempt to raise awareness there are "al-Qaeda" *in* Iraq?
I don't know the answer. However, I suspect they change their name more often than they change their underware.
An AQ emir? Who knew that had such a hierarchy. Regardless, give them the Saddam necktie.
Every day it seems they arrest more and more people as suspects. What are they doing with these thousands of prisoners, Do they have time for trials? If you catch suspects with IED's whay are they arrested? Shoot them and be done with it.
One day trials will be held and these killers should be executed. Then the hue and cry ill come up from Amnesty International that too many hundreds are being executed. be sure to catch them right and shoot them on the spot while it is acceptable.
Less detaining and more firing squads.
They key to ending the insurgency was always simply creating lots and lots and lots of prison space. Keep arresting people until the violence stops. Screen the detainees for bad guys. End of problem.
