"Rudy Giuliani: "There isn't a mayor or a public official in this country that's more strongly pro immigrant than I am. Including disagreeing with President Clinton when he signed an anti-immigration legislation about two or three years ago."

Now come on, you have taken Poor Little Rudy the RINO out of context. You should be ashamed of yourself.

These quotes have been posted on Free Republic in the past and now some good soul has made a video compilation of them for CPAC.

Yeah, I have looked a few up on the Internet and found many sources of each of these statements.

In all honesty, I'm probably overreacting just a little bit...but I'm noticing that Giuliani has a record of attacking the first amendment (his support of McCain/Feingold) combined with his pro-gun control stance. Isn't this something that should be catching our attention?

If your a real Conservative it should

"I'm still trying to figure out why there are so many Rudy supporters here."
***That caught me by surprise as well. I think part of it is our own making. Liberals go on over to DU and they get emotionally hacked to pieces, then they wander over here and freepers are generally very nice people. You can disagree all day and not get banned. So they stick around because it feels comfortable. But they forget what motivated the whole setup in the first place and they don't value some things as much as socons do.

Many of the Rudy supporters simply agree with Rudy on the issues and have trouble seeing why we can't just let it slide on such little issues as... (fill_in_the_blank).

We are screwed......At first I thought of voting for anyone except the beast and if need be, I would pull for any Pub including Rudy.

I have some deep rooted values that force me to support Hunter. I thought I could shovel down the s**t and vote for this RINO if I had to in the general election to keep the beast out of the POTUS.

I don't think I can do it and maintain a clear conscious. I believe I will vote for Alfred E. Newmond first. This is not conservatism, not even remotely. How the party allowed him to put an "R" next to his name is beyond me.

"I can certainly see the Rudy bashers' point. I actually agree with a lot of what they say."

No Rudy bashers here. Rudy is imploding from his own record. Those of us who do not support him for POTUS are merely bringing out his skeletons for a little shake-down.

I was thinking about that the other day. Take Bush's numbers in 2004 in CA, add 3% for the "native son" factor and about 4% for his immigration stance and maybe another 2% for his stance on fair trade...who knows?
***And it would catch the mainstream/clinton camp by surprise because those stances have a tendency to be hidden during polling season. That's why they didn't see proposition 187 winning at all.

If this clip is true....he's done as far as getting the Pub nomination. Put a fork in him, now.

Dream on! The Rudybots will put all of this into "context" . . . give it a "nuanced" interpretation, you know.

"Those of us who do not support him for POTUS are merely bringing out his skeletons for a little shake-down."

You've done a good job of that. I guess you should be pleased. Now the only problem is that, if it's not Rudy, the next president of the United States will either be John McCain, Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama. And McCain is nuts.

Why Hillary? You don't know that she is even going to be alive next year, or sane, or still in the race or Democratic Nominee.

She is wildly disliked by many, many Americans.

Rudy should avoid trying to win the general election before he wins the primary.
There's plenty of time after the primaries to reach out to Democrats.

And McCain is nuts.

But he does what he's told. Romney is already tanking. Rudy went in and is hitting a buzz saw. So now the MSM is warming up for round three with Captain Queeg.

If it wasn't so dangerous it would be funny.

I've talked to a few Rudy supporters before and I have yet to hear a single one of them give a real answer to his liberal stances on important issues. As you said, they're willing to let it slide.

The best I've heard is that these social issues "aren't important right now in this time of war." After all, we need a tough leader who will save us from Islam, right?

But to be honest, I'd think that social issues would be important during war times more than ever. We're fighting wars over PRINCICPLES...our purpose of fighting to stand up for what's right.

"If this clip is true....he's done as far as getting the Pub nomination. Put a fork in him, now."

I disagree with that- he's leading the polls over McCain by 22% - but let's assume you're correct.

Why are you not in despair over the current prospects of a conservative being the next president? I sense a lot of triumphalism from the Rudy bashers when the truth is that we are all screwed the way things look now.
