Oh, and I seriously doubt any candidate is going to get the Republican Nomination by bashing President Bush.

I was actually waiting for some sourcing on the video, but since none is forthcoming, I'll throw one out so you guys can jump on it and keep you occupied for a bit...!

The "Democrat line" comment appears to refer to the "electoral fusion" part of NYC politics. I know everybody hates Wikipedia, but it indicates (and I use the Liberal Party as a reference as they did endorse him in 1989)...

The Liberal Party was one of several minor parties that fulfill a role almost unique to New York State politics. New York law allows electoral fusion – a candidate can be the nominee of multiple parties and aggregate the votes received on all the different ballot lines. Several other states allow fusion, but only in New York is it commonly practiced. In fact, since each party is listed with its own line on New York ballots, multiple nominations mean that a candidate's name can be listed several times on the ballot.

It's an unusual system, but that will give some context to consider...
Okay, it's time for the 715 Rudybot meeting...I'm bringing the Kool-Aid...

For years I had a feeling that Sean was disingenuous.

Oh, I don't know about that. He's a lightweight people pleaser. His audience, at least from the calls he takes, seems to lean to not too bright females.

(ducking)

Gingrich said the GOP needs to nominate a Ronald Reagan-type candidate and added, "I think it's not an accident that Giuliani is running as well as he is in the polls." Gingrich called New York's evolution under Giuliani "a tremendous story . . . It's a different city."

Read between the lines here. I believe that the media is pushing Rudy like nobody's business. Newt didn't come right out & endorse Rudy - he said "I think it's not an accident". I could take that to mean that it's not an accident either - the MSM & the country club republicans are making sure Rudy is the front runner. If he were so happy with Rudy being the front runner - why is Newt still considering running?

As far as Newt saying Rudy cleaned up NY - nobody is denying that. Rudy was great for NY - the land of liberals- just not so great for me. Rush won't even endorse anyone yet - he says it's too early - and he's right. Don't let the polls get you down - it is early.

I get discouraged here on FR when I see my fellow freepers in-fighting like this - but this is the time to get down & dirty & fight it out. This is the time for everyone to line up for their candidate & fight like nobody's business for them. Many will fall & ultimately one will be left standing (maybe two, with one being the VP candidate) - then it will be time for the party to unite & beat the other guys.

One thing I know is I do not want Rudy to be that guy. Like someone said earlier, this video is worth many thousands in campaign ads & we can circulate it to everyone we know FOR FREE. We can get the word out. I will tell you this - if it comes down to the front 3 guys being my last choices - if I can't vote for Duncan Hunter - I'd grudgingly support Mitt Romney over Rudy or McCain.

Don't give up - it's early and we can make a difference. We don't have to eat the crap they're feeding us.

It's over for him. Even his most loon supporters here can't spin this.

Yep. They're conspicuous by their absence on this thread.

They should be thankful that this was discovered early. Otherwise, Hitlery's war machine would be playing the same material non-stop in campaign commercials. Hitlery would crush Rudy in the general election.

Actually, earlier in this thread someone else tried to say the same thing - that Rudy was referring to running on the democratic line for mayor in NY. Not being a New Yorker, I did not know that - but later in the thread - Post #118 by Alberta's Child cleared this up better. She said:

An ambitious Democrat who wants to be mayor of New York City is best served by running as a Republican -- just like Michael Bloomberg did in 2001. And I'm getting more convinced by the day that this is exactly what Rudy Giuliani did back then -- which is one more reason why he should never be trusted as the GOP nominee.

So, yes, I think you are correct about Rudy's meaning when he said that on the video - but I think Alberta's Child's explanation is right on the money. I always wondered how a Republican like Guiliani or Bloomberg could become Mayor of a liberal bastion like NY city - now I know. They are really just democraticks in disguise.

Anyway, like I said earlier - it's the other remarks Rudy makes on the video which are far more disturbing.

But the survey also shows 56 percent don't know Giuliani's marital history, 68 percent don't know his stand on gun control (he's been saying it's a state matter), and nearly 80 percent don't accurately know where he is on abortion rights.

If this guy gets the Republican nomination, the MSM will have a field day.

I found this posed on this thread by Alberta' Child and wondered what your thoughts are on what was said here. Since I'm not an expert on NY politics I'm curious to get your take on this. By the way, how was the meeting? ;)

"In an overwhelmingly Democratic city like New York, a Democratic candidate actually has a more difficult hill to climb to win the mayoral election -- because he/she first has to get through a hotly-contested primary fight involving as many as 5 or 6 opponents.

An ambitious Democrat who wants to be mayor of New York City is best served by running as a Republican -- just like Michael Bloomberg did in 2001. And I'm getting more convinced by the day that this is exactly what Rudy Giuliani did back then -- which is one more reason why he should never be trusted as the GOP nominee."

"Read between the lines here. I believe that the media is pushing Rudy like nobody's business"

You got that right, they SURE are.

I will never forget the pictures of the Amish waiting in line to see George W. Bush when he was campaigning for the presidency. They aren't going to be there for Rudy. Nor will many other conservatives. Rudy is a DISASTER in the making.
