Rudy's handlers are idiotic to think he can compete in SC. Rudy flopped all over the South as Nov 2006 proved. Not to mention Christian conservative Ralph Reed's defeat in Georgia after Rudy's heavy-handed endorsement. Conservatives weren't buying that liberal bag of wind.

As one FReeper astutely posted: "Rudy's done. I'm glad we got him out of the way quickly so he doesn't pollute the process."

Rudy's intrusion in GOP politics is an insult to social conservatives----the voters central to the Repub party's winning strategy. Rudy's got a history that makes one cringe.

A LOOK AT RUDY'S PAST IS A GLIMPSE INTO THE FUTURE.

...as far back as 1993, when he ran for mayor of New York City, Giuliani was dogged by accusations that he pulled strings to avoid the draft. In fact, Rudy wangled a rare occupational deferment from serving in the Vietnam war in 1969, when he was a law clerk.

However, Rudy's scheming to get an occupational deferment is a far cry from present-day Rudy's assertions, that he opposed the Viet war on "tactical and strategic grounds."

Egocentric Rudy's "tactical and strategic grounds" blather is nothing but a naked attempt to pump his 2008 resume in the the absence of solid military credentials. In a Kerryesque-like statement, Giuliani once said of the Vietnam war, "I disagreed with it."

Anyone who dismisses the significance of Vietnam as a potential issue in the 2008 campaign is forgetting how surprisingly potent it proved in 2004, when there was enormous interest in the military records of both President Bush and Sen. John Kerry of Massachusetts.

This looks like a good sign for Ron Paul...

BIG MO is happening!

4 Votes is 400% of Jim Gilmore! I get an ERR in Excel when I try to show his improvement over Dennis Kucinich.

All of a sudden, down the home stretch, 50% of the vote just so happens to break for McCain, saving him from an embarrassing defeat on the heels of his big, nationally televised announcement.

Bravo flippin' Sierra.

Beltram's Explanation for late vote count (snip)

Last night it was realized that the McCain vote DID NOT total as per the actual votes. The column totaled 114 and it should have totaled 141.

This accounts for the large change in the McCain final total. This was a clerical error caused during the count last night.

We did do a re-count and verfified all numbers.

Out of the last 100 votes, McCain apparently got 48 of them.

Pretty strange is right. < tinfoil! > He's the only one NOT at CPAC, right? ;-P

"IMHO, with little press, and little name recognition, Hunter did extremely well to have finished right in the thick of it with two of the candidates the press has been covering the most."

You said it!

---Something stinks here. Personally I don't know even a single McCain-supporting Republican. He's abysmal on the 1st amendement (CFR), the 2nd Amendment (F- rating from GOA), and is currently teaming with the ultimate liberal's liberal (Kennedy) to obliterate our borders and grant amnesty to tens of millions of future Democrat voters.---

That's true, but we need to put aside our principles and vote for him anyway. You don't want Hillary to win do do? :^)

Some pretty strange stuff at the end of the vote count.

Fascinating analysis!

Is there anyway to validate the votes cast?

I can see why CNN would push McCain (because he is so very defeatable). Perhaps an investigation is needed. I doubt CNN is above vote, ah "misrepresentation".

Future straw votes should take additional security measures.

See the link I posted in #64. Apparently the GOP Chairman is now saying that last night's count had a clerical error, understating the McCain tally by 25 votes or so. In that case, the numbers would still look hokey to me, but less so.

And .. for my money .. McCain will be willing to do ANYTHING to try to get the nomination.

I don't think he'll make it .. but this slimy vote dancing around .. seemingly to pull the rabbit out of the hat at the last minute .. stuff has me really worried.
