Clarence Thomas: I Hate the Media

Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas is no fan of the news media.

"One of the reasons I don't do media interviews is, in the past, the media often has its own script," he said in an interview with Business Week magazine. "The media, unfortunately, have been universally untrustworthy because they have their own notions of what I should think or I should do."

Thomas has been particularly upset by stories of how he ended up at the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Mass. According to the Los Angeles Times, Thomas says the common wisdom is that he was recruited for the school in 1968 as part of an affirmative action effort.

"That was the creation of the politicians, the people with a lot of mouth and nothing to say, and your industry," Thomas told Business Week. "Everything becomes affirmative action."

The real story, Thomas says, is that a nun suggested Holy Cross to him.

"That's how I wound up there," he said. "Your industry [the news media] has suggested that we were all recruited. That's a lie. Really, it's a lie. I don't mean a mistake. It's a lie.

"That thing that has astounded me over the years is that there has been such an effort to roll that class into people's notion of affirmative action," he continued. "You hear this junk. It's just not consistent with what really happened."

USA Today columnist Julienne Malveaux once said of Clarence Thomas, "I hope his wife feeds him lots of eggs and butter so he dies young like many black men do..." He still looks pretty healthy.

Thomas 1, MSM 0.

I really like Judge Thomas but more importantly I highly respect him. Any smart black American would do well to emulate him.

John Danforth was his main "sponsor" and sat with his wife during the hearings. What Spector did was help to discredit Anita Hill with his questioning of her. I will never forget those hearings because they were the first ones I really paid attention to since I discovered Rush and began to attend the EIB School of Advanced Conservative Studies.

He is right. The media and their co-conspirators in the dem party have mistreated Thomas, because he won't leave the plantation that the left has created.

Did they ever conclude that he sexual harassed that girl? I would hardly call that honorable.

You mean Justice Thomas is black? I had always looked at him as a man defending the COTUS.

AR15. My son just bought one of those last week. Now he is looking for a scope for it. And, no he is not a political-co, he's just a Republican Conservative who fully believes in TCOTUS.

President Bush should made Thomas Chief Justice, not Roberts.

Did they ever conclude that he sexual harassed that girl? I would hardly call that honorable.

"That girl" was Anita Hill, who was a poor innocent defenseless Yale Law School graduate at the time she was supposedly "harassed." Even if everything she said had been true, Thomas would have been guilty only of occasional mild public vulgarity, which is not a crime. She was a partisan leftist hit girl and an ingrate, not a victim. Hill should have praised Thomas for helping her so much with her career. Instead, she betrayed him.

David Brock's "The Real Anita Hill" makes a good case against Hill. Though Brock later publicly and profitably disavowed the book when he became a Democrat, he never retracted the principal charges that his book raised against Anita Hill.

Do you think Giuliani, if elected, would appoint a Clarence Thomas type to the bench?
