Last week, I wrote about the Gathering of Eagles (www.gatheringofeagles.org) -- veterans, active-duty troops, bikers, activists and ordinary citizens coming to Washington, D.C., on March 17 to hold a counterprotest against tens of thousands of anti-war extremists demanding immediate withdrawal of our troops from Iraq and Afghanistan.
In Washington state this week, the peace brigade held a dress rehearsal at the Port of Tacoma -- where they showed support for our troops by taunting the Stryker Brigade and local police guarding against obstruction of the convoys headed to Iraq. More than 300 Stryker vehicles and other equipment are being moved from Fort Lewis to Iraq in support of the 4th Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division's upcoming deployment as part of the ongoing "surge" and counterinsurgency efforts. The Strykers are equipped with slat armor to protect the troops from rocket-propelled grenades.
Yes, the same ilk that purport to care so much about the troops not having enough armor and protection stood and jeered at those deploying to bring more protection to their fellow soldiers in Iraq. Such patriots, aren't they?
Members of the antimilitary mob shouted condescendingly at our volunteer soldiers rolling past them: "Free the troops." "No justice, no peace." "You don't have to go." One lunatic with a bullhorn urged Stryker Brigade members to disobey their commanding officers and sneered: "Your sergeant is a douchebag." Such patriots, aren't they?

Ms Malkin is, as usual, spot-on. The only thing I despise more than these traitors, is... well, I was about to say "our enemy." But there's not really a difference.
They said a lot worse than this. I thought I would never hear a lefty claiming that the police should not be protecting a minority, but the guy with the bullhorn kept repeating that the "majority agrees with us that the war must end. You police are protecting the minority. We are the majority."
They also mocked the police, using foul language and derisive comments about perceived homosexual tendencies of the police. "That big black stick (riot baton) is turning me on. I bet you guys (police) get hours of fun in the locker room out of that stick."
It was a truly pathetic performance.
They alternated their tactics from pitious friendliness, to derision. When a convoy of Stryker vehicle would arrive the police would form up a barricade line in front of the protestors. The protestors would say nice things to the police, but in a condescending way, that basically implied, "your too ignorant to understand that the war is illegal and you should not be protecting the movement of the Stryker Brigade."
Then when the vehicles had all pulled into the fenced lot and the police started to march back inside the lot, their attitude changed to hostile. That's when they made comments about the police being fascists and "remember when being a police officer was an honorable job?"
But, but, but...what happened?
I thought they "supported the troops"?

THEY COME PREPARED TO DO BATTLE and they are well organized.
Seriously, it's not just bandanas over the faces, they have BMX or hockey pads and protection on under their clothes, they bring improvised weapons like D-Cell batteries in socks, flammable liquids in unmarked water bottles, etc.; stuff that can be quickly assembled or disassembled into innocent components carried by multiple persons.
If their target is the Memorial, they will likely create a diversion to get the police away from the Memorial. If they want the Gathering of Eagles folks away, they will create a physical confrontation with them in one area, hoping to draw the rest over and then they'll hit the unprotected area. If you're protecting an area, stay at that area. When your adrenalin gets going, you'll want to go help, DON'T DO IT. The Eagles need to have people free from protection assignments to respond to these diversions so the Memorial is not left unprotected.
They use cell phones, hand radios, police scanners to keep their people informed. They will have folks on bikes or skates so they can move quickly from one spot to another (unprotected) spot.
Oh and most important: As tempting as it will be, do not let the black block folks draw you into any violence. Philosophically, you don't need to lower yourself to their level. Practically of course you can defend yourself, but be forwarned that the black blockers will turn that around on you too.
They will have people whose only job is to get photos and video. Any pics or vids of you defending yourself will never see the light of day. Any pic or video that can be construed as you initiating violence or "over" defending yourself will be on the media and attached to a criminal complaint, a lawsuit, etc.
Because of this it is important for the Eagles folks to have assigned pic and video people too. The black blockers will injure themselves and blame it on you. They will start s--t with you and only film you responding. They have lots of free time to edit their videos and pics then distribute them to anyone who will look.
The DC cops, Capitol Police, and Parks Police already know all this from experience.
I'm on the other side of the country and can't be there. Please pass this info on to the Gathering of Eagles folks. The more prepared they are, the less chance of success from anarchists. It's important they don't succeed because if they do it just emboldens them to stoop even lower for their next "action."

No one has the Constitutional right to desecrate a monument.

Viet Vet is on with her re: GOEagles and Jane Fonda
He's choking up thinking about Fonda and what she did.
She pushed GOE three times and the freepers re: D.C.
This type of behavior from the moonbats is treasonous.
And yet those brave soldier heroes are protecting the right of those ijits to protest. Something is wrong here.
I'll be in DC on Saturday. I'm not looking forward to meeting up with moonbats
Please FReepmail me if you would like to be added to, or removed from, the Michelle Malkin ping list...
Michele reminds me of the song "(Rose in) Spanish Harlem" by Ben E. King and The Drifters ("it's growing in the street right up through the concrete but soft and sweet and dreamin'...)". She graduated from Oberlin College in Ohio, one of the more liberal institutions in the free world, but she came out unscathed. A national treasure. And nice and pretty, too. (I posted this on a dying thread and didn't want it to go to waste). ;-)
I put them right along with loony jihadists; the liberals make the jihadis more dangeous.
