THE REAL MEANING OF PEACE
There once was a King who offered a prize to the artist who would paint the best picture of peace. Many artists tried. The King looked at all the pictures, but there were only two he really liked and he had to choose between them.
"One picture was of a calm lake. The lake was a perfect mirror for the peaceful towering mountains all around. Overhead was a blue sky fluffy white clouds. All who saw this picture thought that it was a perfect picture of peace. The other picture had mountains too. But these were rugged and bare. Above was an angry sky from which rain fell, and in which lightning played. Down the side of the mountain tumbled a foaming waterfall.
This did not look peaceful at all. But when the King looked, he saw behind the waterfall a tiny bush growing in a crack in the rock. In the bush a mother bird had built her nest. There, in the midst of the rush of angry water, sat the mother bird on her nest ...perfect peace.

MORNING PRAYER
All through today, O God, help me to be quick to praise and slow to criticize; quick to forgive, and slow to condemn; quick to share and slow to refuse to give. Grant me all through today complete control over my temper, that I may be slow to anger; complete control over my tongue, that I may speak no hasty word. So grant that all through today I may help everyone and hurt no one, so that I may find true joy in living. Amen.

Slow Down
READ: Genesis 2:1-3
God . . . rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had done. Genesis 2:2
We live in an action-oriented world, and it seems that simplifying our lives has never been more complicated! Doesnt it seem that theres always work to do and no time for rest? Answer the following questions as honestly as you can to determine if you need to rest: Do I feel stressed when functioning in my normal day-to-day activities? Is it difficult to find joy? Do I get the kind of rest my body needs? Do I wake up tired?
In creation, God established a pattern of work and rest, which is a model for believers. For 6 days God worked to bring order to our world. But on the seventh day, after He had finished all His creative activity, He rested. God demonstrated that rest is appropriate and right.
Jesus showed us the importance of rest when He sat wearily beside a well after a long walk (John 4:6) and when He slept in the back of a boat with His head on a pillow (Mark 4:38). He also rested when He and His disciples got away from the crowds (Mark 6:31-32).
If the Lord rested from the work of creation and from His earthly ministry, we need to rest from our work as well. Our times of rest refresh us for times of service. Schedule some slow down time this week.
If our body, soul, and spirit
Are to function at their best,
Time is needed for renewal
Time for leisure, time for rest. D. De Haan
All work and no play will take the joy of life away.

Franklin Graham, head of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association disclosed Sat. that his youngest son, Capt. Edward Graham, an Army Ranger, has just been injured in Iraq, according to a report in the Charlotte Observer.
"He got shrapnel in his arms, legs and back," a Graham spokesman said. "And he was recovering...in a hospital that can't be named for security reasons."
Reportedly, the wounds to the 27-year-old captain were not "life threatening."

I am going to bed. I did something to my neck and it is so stiff I barely can move it. Plus I have a cold sore and that really bothers me. I plan to have a wonderful day tomorrow.
