The Reality is when asked hard questions you refuse to answer. I'll ask again where is your proof to the statement

"Thompson has NO chance of winning the nomination, but if he does, Hillary or whoever the Dem nominee is, will beat him, effortlessly, as I said"

We have all seen that the media driven candidate does not the nominee make (read Dean) your repeated attempts to pronounce your candidate the de-facto winner based on polls is laughable and only shows you as a arrogant keyboard jockey nothing more.

Is it really possible for CA to be in play? That would be terrific!

I see in the polls that Rudy winning in the NY suburbs, coming close even in heavily Dim NYC. The strange thing is that Her Heinous is strong in Upstate Rural NY.

My 29 yr. old daughter is firmly pro life, but she wants to feel safe when flying, when going to a shopping mall, when visiting NY. She doesn't want to think that killers are lurking, waiting for dems to take over our government.

Her friends are not afraid of Rudy's social positions at all. They want to be safe.

Their lives changed forever after 9/11.

While he was the “Republican Mayor” of New York City he appointed more than 60 men and women to the Civil, Criminal, and Family Court benchs. In all of those judicial appointment only two were Republican.

All of his other judical appointments were either registered Liberals or registered Democrats. As the “Republican Mayor” he had appointment power over more than 70 full commissioners in more than 50 City agencies, yet at no time during his administration did REPUBLICANS account for more than 10% of those appointments.

He even appointed Chuck Schumers wife as the City’s Department of Transportation Commissioner.

To clarify: You have several things on that post. To me, the worst by far is Rudy's apparent participation in the "gay pride" -- meaning, gay-activist -- breakfast, especially one commemorating the Stonewall Rebellion, a 1969 riot that took place in NYC!

Do any other FReepers have any input on this very unfortunate point? Did Rudy back out of the event? Criticize it? Repent of his participation?

NY is close...NJ is very definitley in play. They have very fond memories of Rudy...Her Thighness is definitely strong in certain areas. The voters in those areas would for Donald Duck if he was the Defeatocrat candidate.

NJ, RI, and a few other states have a large Italian- American population that usually votes Dim. That boosts Rudy's score. They always vote for their own.

I definitely agree that this is the most important issue. It's one reason I've been (mostly) keen on Rudy. I'm still interested in possibly supporting him, and I'm still defending him against some of the stupider raps against him on FReep. But there are certain objections against Rudy that have to be taken seriously. After all, we don't have any particular reason to think that Romney or Newt would be weaker on terror than Rudy. They could be just as good, conceivably better.

I don't know how much Thompson could have done

Glenn's shilling for Clintooooon to obtain a dadgummed space ride was disgraceful.

But Thompson just flat rolled over. If there's anything we don't need, it's a president who won't fight for what he wants. I think Rudy would do that in spades.

It's quite possible that even Rudy can't break through the Rat bias in NJ. And I bet he won't in NY. I think NJ is a possibility, and PA a better possibility.

Poll: Giuliani doing well in Ohio, other swing states

http://www.columbusdispatch.com/national/national.php?story=251468

The former New York City mayor leads or is virtually deadlocked with Democratic front-runners Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama in three swing states -- Ohio, Florida and Pennsylvania.

In Ohio, Giuliani leads Obama, the Democratic senator from Illinois, 44-40 percent. In a poll with a less than three percent margin of error, he is essentially tied with Clinton, the Democratic senator from New York, trailing the former first lady 44-43 percent.

In Florida, Giuliani leads Clinton 47-42 percent and by a wider gap in Pennsylvania, 51-40. Giuliani also is in front of Obama in Florida and Pennsylvania by identical margins, 48-36 percent.

Rudy is leading in most battleground states and is in the lead in a few blue states like NJ and PA. Rudy, if nominated, he will probably get some in the mid-300s in the Electoral College.

Rudy, with his 9-11 image is the only one who can rise above the trash the Dems might throw at him. They can't trump that.

That's why the Dems want to split the Republicans, hoping that they are able to do that, so Rudy won't get the nomination.

California will go Democratic yet again. Take it to the bank.

One reason is that voters here are stupid. Another is that CA media is incredibly bad -- not just liberal media in general, but unbelievably superficial TV news. We don't have a lot of Reagan Democrat types anymore. And, polls show that Californians don't care as much about terrorism as Americans generally.

As for upstate NY, I think part of it is that the region has become an economic basket case. A region that's an economic basket case, unless it's strongly religious, will trend Democratic. In the NYC area, out-of-control immigration has screwed us, as in CA. Rudy is unlikely to carry NY state, let alone the city. However, he will do better than any other Republican could, which should be of some help in winning the nationwide popular vote.

I think NJ is very possible. And Upstate NY and Long Island are very Italian-American--Rudy would have their vote over the witch in a heartbeat.
