Giuliani Leads Three Democrats in Florida

Republican Rudy Giuliani is the early frontrunner in Florida, according to a poll by the Quinnipiac University Polling Institute. 47 per cent of respondents in the Sunshine State would support the former New York City mayor in the 2008 United States presidential election, while 42 per cent would vote for Democratic New York senator Hillary Rodham Clinton.

Giuliani also holds a 12-point lead over Illinois senator Barack Obama, and an eight-point edge over former North Carolina senator John Edwards.

The three Democratic presidential hopefuls hold the upper hand in contests against former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney.

Rudy may have a leg up in Florida, if he's the nominee:

Retirees from NYC area (mostly liberals, or at least, mostly Democrats) remember how the city used to be when they were young, know how bad it got, know and appreciate the fact that Rudy improved it significantly. And they all vote.

3. If the 2008 election for President were being held today, and the candidates were Hillary Clinton the Democrat and Rudy Giuliani the Republican, for whom would you vote?

Qhinnipiac is one of the most left leaning polling outfits. I have heard media outlets refer to them as liberal polsters.

Speaking to family around the country today and they seem to think it's going to be a blowout election for Rudy. Young people are especially drawn to him.

If Thompson couldn't deal with John Glenn in committee hearings, how is he going to deal with people who want to behead us in a NY minute.

If it's true that the kids like Rudy, that's important. Kerry won young people, and they're even more Democratic today. We don't want this generation to get into the habit of voting Rat.

Also interesting but we are told Evangelicals won't support Giuliani yet they indicate a favorable rating.

11. Is your opinion of -- Rudy Giuliani favorable, unfavorable or haven't you heard enough about him?

A good point. I didn't see much of those Chinagate hearings, but do remember that John Glenn was the ranking Rat and Ol' Fred was the chairman. I also remember that Glenn was shamefully partisan, and really vocal about it. I don't know how much Thompson could have done, but I suspect he could have done -- and said -- much more.

I suppose it makes sense considering how many of Rudy's former constituents now live in Florida.

you make two very good points there. about Quinnipaic, and about Generation Y. Generation Y typically polls 58/42 Dem now, and like it or not, young voters are drawn to "celebrity".
