Hey Andy you pious scumbag! My father was an WWII vet who finished high school, got his pilots license, built race cars and was one hell of a skilled carpenter.
Also if he was alive today he could b@tch slap you with a cold beer in one hand and not spill a drop!
I hope you choke on your eyebrows!

I disagree. What you hear from Rooney are the decomposition gases escaping.

I wonder what Andy Rooney thinks about as he moves through this stage of his life. To say such a thing about young men and women fighting for our very way of life, does he ever think that he will soon be explaining his life to his Maker, and that his Maker will not accept "TV pundit" as an excuse?
Old age is hell without wisdom. I have no pity for this vainglorious elitist. Cranky old Andy was never anything but a bad act.

The article states:
As for Rooney, he squeaked his way out of combat service during World War II. So he doesnt deserve and wont get an Absolute Moral Authority card. Hes just a cranky old coot.
But here is what his biography from CBS says:
Rooney attended Colgate University until he was drafted into the Army in 1941. In February 1943, he was one of six correspondents who flew with the Eighth Air Force on the first American bombing raid over Germany.
Read the rest of his history and you'll be left with no doubt that he saw plenty of action in Europe.
There's a lot not to like about Rooney's politics but let's attack his politics and not his service.

Watch the video. I don't know how hotair works. I don't know if users upload or the site owners do. The title is very misleading.

"Isn't Rooney dead yet?"
Yes, but no one's noticed yet.
Here's a recent photo of Andy:

I think Andy should emphatically place the largest microphone he uses deeply in the opposite orifice.
Then, perhaps a very patriotic tech could energize it and enlighten Andy in a unique and different way. Enlarge his experience repretoir.
Who knows, he might have a Nirvana experience and find a brain.

Yeah, all those "losers" in WWII who had forgone the last bit of their carefree childhoods to shed their own tears, sweat, and blood for the freedom of millions of people, and to prevent the otherwise inevitable invasion of their homeland. Yes Rooney, all those 18 year olds (and many younger) that ferried your sorry journalist ass around Europe so you could write about THEIR heroics. So nice to know what you think of them after all these years. Shit-filled sack of fat and bones.

Dear Andy,
I seem to recall that those "losers" kicked some serious Nazi, and imperial Japanese ass.
We could use a bunch more of those so-called ""Losers" these days in Congress and the media.
A@@-clown.

I agree with you. Andy Rooney's a jackass, but his comments, in context, were not as offensive as the title implies.
He has a point about the possible negative side effects of issuing "morality waivers" for new recruits.

I can't remember where I heard it but they said that the Military today is the most educated ever. Rooney is to rummy and full of liberal hype.

Hey Jon Cary -- looks like Andy Rooney wants to out-demagogue you in the spit on the troops competition.
fwiw, I think the real losers are low-life leftists in the DBM and the Demagogic Party.

Even at that, would you classify those who were in the military during WWII as the "loser" class of American society?
Mr. Rooney is wrong on both ends of his comparison.

Rooney attended Colgate University until he was drafted into the Army in 1941 My father was a 3 war Marine (yes, he was in the wars, not just in the Marines when the wars were taking place). He graduated from Colgate on the GI bill in 1947.
He died 4 years ago next month, and I feel compelled to speak for him here. He was an officer and a gentleman and as such would be dignified in his comments on Mr. Rooney (in public). But his disgust would be palpable. And his comments in private another matter.
I, for myself, think Andy Rooney is a disgusting, pathetic excuse for a human being. He would not be fit to lick my father's boots.

Not that I give a shit about this vile and vulgar old coot, but if you read his full remarks, he was not saying what is being described here. He is talking about his artilery unit, and the guys who were there from the early days. Nowhere do I see any comparison to today's troops (of which my son is one.)

Does anyone remember the degrees the folks in the "Halp, Jon Carry" banner photo have? It would be a succinct rebutal to that senile old fool.

He is talking about the troops in World War II. I suspect that most of those guys didn't have a HS diploma. So what, most of them had to work in order to eat, or to support a family before they were INDUCTED. As for "losers" being there, Andy has a big mouth and has lost his mind. There were no "losers" there.
