There's an elephant in global warming's living room that few in the mainstream media want to talk about: the creators of the carbon credit scheme are the ones cashing in on it.
The two cherub like choirboys singing loudest in the Holier Than Thou Global Warming Cathedral are Maurice Strong and Al Gore.
This duo has done more than anyone else to advance the alarmism of man-made global warming.
With little media monitoring, both Strong and Gore are cashing in on the lucrative cottage industry known as man-made global warming.
Strong is on the board of directors of the Chicago Climate Exchange, Wikipedia-described as "the world's first and North America's only legally binding greenhouse gas emission registry reduction system for emission sources and offset projects in North America and Brazil."

i wouldnt go that far.. anyone with half a brain should see that it is a scam
Ya think?!!?
Guess where these fictitious offsets come from?
Nothing!
Who pays for it?
We all do; at least those of us who work for a living.
Who gets the money?
Look!
A puppy!
Ahhhh. They sucked you into the scam...
A more fundamental question should be:
Who determines the value of these offsets?
How?
Has anyone ever seen the methodology?
Computer models!
BWAHAhaaaaaaaa!
There's no controlling legal authority, DAMMIT!
Carbon credits are an even more brilliant scam than fake driveway repairs and Ponzi schemes in the securities market. With the other two scams people actually buy something that's advertised to be of definite, measurable value to them. The scammer has to be always able to run out of town when he inevitably gets caught and the scamees go after him because they didn't get what they bargained for.
The carbon credit scammer, OTOH, is selling a fake "moral value" to the scamees, who have no reason even to ask if they've received their money's worth and no way to measure the value even if they ask. Hence, carbon credit scams aren't even self-limiting like ordinary scams. A grifter's paradise is in the making.
Does an ex-politician like Al Gore, as he flies around the world doing his PowerPoint show, collecting his Oscar for An Inconvenient Truth, lapping up praise from an uncritical media and kidding about whether he'll run for president, strike you as someone who truly believes we're facing Armageddon?
"People like Al Gore jet about the earth, living from mansion to mansion and say that they want to drastically lower the living standards for most people on the earth. Then, the so called peoples's people, who talk about "eqality" the most, think this is just fine."

Gore's carbon footprint may be the size of Godzilla's, but he eases his conscience with "carbon offsets." He buys them from himself. And every time someone else buys them, Big Al gets richer.
...Speaking of carbon offsets and shell games, guess where Gore buys his carbon offsets? Well, he buys them from a firm call Generation Investment Management LLP, a tax-exempt U.S. 501(c)3 corporation. The chairman and co-founder is Al Gore. In other words, he buys his carbon offsets from himself. Others who buy these offset are really buying stock in Gore's growing business. You, too, can green up his portfolio, if not Earth itself.

Think they'd be amused? Ok, then how about asking how much money I'd have to give to Emily's List in order to offset one anti-abortion bumper sticker on my car?

Is there a public record that shows which corporations or individuals have actually purchased offsets and from whom?
Maybe $'s for Green Gays instead of Rainbow Gays.
These carbon credit scams are exactly the "new industries" that the left, headed by Clinton and Gore, are talking about when saying that going Green will spawn whole new industries.
Just think, a never ending scam of Brooklyn Bridges.
I read a biography on Karl Marx once that talked about how he saw the division of labor in the communist movement--the thinkers and the foot soldiers. He, of course, was a thinker, a leader, someone who would never have to work. Some people are even considering that he did not write some of the articles credited to him, that Frederick Engles wrote them instead. Marx was lazy. The only thing that goaded him into any type of activity was jealousy that someone else would beat him to the exposure he wanted for himself. He never cared the slightest bit for the worker. He just saw writing about it as a way to get attention for himself.
Chicken Little in the umbrella business.
it's = its
Yep - brings a whole new meaning to the term "limousine liberal"!
Well, I didn't get sucked in, but I agree that your question is better.
So, could we say that the "moral value" is the equivalent of a self-assessed "guilt tax" based on whatever the individual feels their guilt is worth?
So, if I donate to a battered women's shelter, I can offset the batterings I give to my girlfriend? I'm not insane, just using liberal logic here.
