I used to date this gal. Her mom was a gourmet chef who had spent quite a bit of time in Europe. I picked up a German cookbook she had once and after a few pig's eye soup and cow brains with blood sauce recipes....

Those Limeys will eat anything!!!

I'd have to say "No, that would be the Germans."

Don't knock it until you have tried it. Brown sauce is a sauce for meats (chops, sausages, bacon sandwiches). It's lightly spiced.

It's far better than your BBQ sauce.

Don't be ignorant. HP is not a rotten form of what we know as tomato ketchup. It's a distinct and glorious treat in the same family of savory sauces as tomato ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, banana ketchup, mushroom ketchup, Chinese ke-tsiap / kaichiap, and all the good old patis, anchovy sauce, bagoongs, and the other fermented fish pastes.

HP Sauce / generic brown sauce is wonderful on everything.

This sauce is probably just the unused runoff from a banger factory.

It's very similar to A1 sauce or Heinz 57. It's a decent sauce. Goes well on meat.
