thompson's gravitas and resonant voice is as reassuring and passionate as reagan's

only a liar would say otherwise

I liked him in the Dukes of Hazzards remake.

You'd better make sure those quotes are true and in context...before your christian heart condems someone to hell.

I like Fred Thompson. In fact I favor Fred Thompson. I like Newt too but I don't think he has a prayer. I like Duncan Hunter who I think is a good man, again without a prayer.

Get the chip off your shoulder.

>The best orator the GOP has is not Thompson, Hunter or even Rudy.<

Substance counts for far more than delivery in my book. Hunter has substance with a capitol S. And not only does he have delivery, but this man has the courage of his convictions; he has the experience, and the respect of his collegues in Congress. The Republican party should name him its candidate for president because he is the only true statesman in the field.

"I once read an alternate-history story where the Germans captured India. Gandhi used his tactics against the Nazis and failed miserably."

I remember that too. Once the nazi got tired of questioning him, he had some staffer take ghandi out a side door into an alley and unceremoniously shot him in the head. Much like nazis used to do, and much like Saddam and sons, taliban, al queda did also.

See http://history.eserver.org/ghandi-nobody-knows.txt
Best article on the Ghandi-myth you'll find. Objective, strange, and sourced.
Fred Thompson knows from which he speaks!

It's fine to support Hunter. I'm just suggesting you have a plan B for when Hunter is out of the race. He is very unlikely to finish better than third in any primary.

I have this nagging thought that if Thompson runs it will be cause McCain has no chance (they are friends). If he wins the primary, he will name McCain V.P.

McCain would be a boat anchor around Thompson's neck. He has made himself very disliked and distrusted.

See my post #48 of "Romney's Assimilationist Act Raises More Morman Questions".
If you believe in what Duncan Hunter stands for, get behind him. Be careful who you chose for delegates to the convention. Then he cannot lose.

"So, if Sen, Thompson doesn`t run , you are giving your vote to Hillorat."

I think it would be suicide (partycide?) for our party to elect a RINO. With that in mind, I'd rather see an obama than a Rudy.

Rudy IS a likable man. I do like him. But then, I like my neighbor, too, and he's a dem.

I NEVER vote for the one that can win, rather than the one that I believe in.

:O)

I would not worry about the "friend" issue. William F Buckley and George McGovern are friends but they are hardly political allies.

Haha, very funny. CCG asks for validation of the Gandhi quote Thompson selects and you send him to Thompson's article. I shall have to remember that tactic.

I knew that Gandhi was overrated but I never read these quotes before.

In fairness, he wasn't telling the English or the Jews much different from what he was telling the Indians.

So, if Sen, Thompson doesn`t run , you are giving your vote to Hillorat.

The liberals Republicans are driving conservative Republicans away from Republicans. Rudy is not a compromise.

LOL. I read it as him asking for verification of what Thompson said about Ghandi. Oooops, nevermind. Hahahaha
