7,000 French Jews ask USA for Asylum

(IsraelNN.com) More than 7,000 French Jews have signed a petition asking for political asylum in the United States because of anti-Semitism in France. The petition makes pointed reference to the murder of Ilan Halimi, a 23-year-old Parisian Jew who was kidnapped and tortured to death last year by an anti-Semitic gang, and says that "following the barbarous murder of a young Jew because he was Jewish, in the context of the rise in anti-Semitic acts committed by Islamic fundamentalists, numerous members of the community no longer feel safe in France."

The petition was sent to the U.S. Congress and asks it to enact a law according French Jews refugee status.

Some French Jewish leaders were outraged: "This petition is bizarre, stupid and out of place," said Chaim Musicant, director of CRIF, the umbrella organization of secular French Jewish groups.

Did you read post 169? I didn't say all Jews were libs. I said the 80% number and Alexannder Rubin said 75%. So I wasn't far off, unless you are also disputing his numbers. He sounds like he know's what he's talking about.

It's the first I've heard that the Nazis checked the Jews political persuasion prior to executing them.

Ok, I made a somewhat inaccurate an d ignorant statement, but that doesn't make me anti-Semetic. That's why I'm here at FR to learn.

Not really:

You also have to be aware of the polling --- much the recent polling was using Jewish-according-to-Hitler (e.g., a grandparent or "Jewish" last name), not whether someone was an observant Jew.

"It's the first I've heard that the Nazis checked the Jews political persuasion prior to executing them."

No, the Nazis didn't. I'm sorry if I mislead you. I'll try again:

Many Jews saw the writing on the wall and attempted to leave Germany. Many such Jews were unable to leave to go the United States because people in the UNITED STATES labeled said Jews as undesirable because they were sterotyped as socialists or communists.

So, yes, refusing entry to Jews to the United States based on unfounded allegations of said Jews being socialaists or communists hits a big nerve and is a repeat of a serious mistake circa 1930 that cost a lot of people their lives.

Smart people - they can see the writing on the wall, as many of their people did in the 1930s.

My sister lived in France for years, married to a Frenchman, and from what I understand French Jews do NOT tend to be liberals. Or is it that you just don't want Jews in the US? I'd rather have Jews come in than more illegals and muslims who hate us.

Wrong. Read the posts on French Jewish political patterns. Most are decidedly not liberals; especially after seeing what happens when shariah law is allowed to run amuck in your country. Maybe you don't want them here because they are Jews, maybe not, but they probably would NOT vote for demoncarts.

They voted for the liberal politicians that let Arab/Islamists into France.

And how would you know that?

Seems to me that the French who voted for liberals are happy with what they got and wouldn't be asking the US for asylum. I would guess these 7000 Jews want to leave France because they are NOT happy with the French liberals who let in the mooselims.

I've heard that before. Jewhaters aren't confined to France.

I believe asylum is only granted when the applicant has no other country willing to take them. In the case of these French Jews, they can immigrate to Israel, and thus would be ineligible for asylum. Obviously they could immigrate through regular channels.

Not to mention that the US Government isn't about to approve amnesty to individuals fleeing France.

See 214. I don't think they're eligible for asylum based on persecution if there's another nation they can emigrate to.

My niece works in France (Paris) and is trying to get a transfer back to the states. It is getting worse and worse over there.

Uh, Nick, what do you do for a living? Just wondering, because your grammar and spelling are atrocious.

But you know, I've noticed the same kind of thing on Islamic websites.

Hmmmm. . . .

If I recall correctly, Senator Lieberman is also a citizen of Israel, by Israeli reckoning, even if he's not by US reckoning.

He's not. Security clearances properly look to the issue of loyalty, since there are not only over 50 countries which recognize dual-citizenship, but security clearances are granted to non-US citizens as well.

I don't know the particulars of the cases I mentioned but I do know that the young man who was about to be arrested for murder in the United States was hurried off to Israel and remains there under the protection of that government. It happened about 4 or 5 years ago and the crime was heinous.

Samuel Sheinbein. He was prosecuted in Israel, where sentencing is far more lenient, and serving 24 years. Too little time, also the longest sentence issued to a minor in Israel's history. The issue there was a combination of the death penalty and life imprisonment for a minor. Numerous nations, most of Europe and particularly Mexico, where over 350 murders reside, won't extradite to the US for capital offences. Israel did change their immigration laws after that case, and it's unlikely it would could be repeated.
