Rats, it occurs to me that I should remind Lurkers that the carbon dates given for the Dead Sea Scrolls are not the dates the manuscripts were composed but rather the approximate dates the particular scrolls or fragments were written. Most all of the ancient manuscripts at Qumran are copies, but the manuscripts from which they were copied have not (yet) been discovered. A few however are community records (business, etc.) which are obviously originals.
