Why do Democrats crave defeat?

Please explain something to me. What is this obsession that liberals have with seeing America destroyed?

Why are they so intent on humiliating their fellow citizens? And why don't they have at least some modicum of pride about the greatest nation the world has ever produced?

In other words, why are they so insistent on seeing America pummeled?

It is clear from the way they recoil when someone refers to them as "anti-American" or "unpatriotic" that there is a piece of them (however insignificantly tiny) that does not wish to be classified as such.

But I cannot for the life of me comprehend why they are so offended. It seems to me that if you love your country, that you love it most when it faces its toughest challenges. But this is not the case with John Murtha, Nancy Pelosi, Rahm Emmanuel, and the other 215 that first authored, then voted for, the bill that would hand over victory to the terrorists we have been battling so hard to defeat since 9/11.

In their own echo-chamber vanity Murtha, Pelosi and company believe themselves to be smarter than the commanders of the operations in the war on terror. And they believe that we will sit mesmerized, like sheep, while they single-handedly attempt to give the terrorists a date for victory - August 31, 2008.

But they didn't just author defeat - they campaigned for it.

Only a day or two earlier the "let the terrorists win" bill looked like it was in deep trouble. Some of the more socially conservative blue-dog democrats argued that it would not play well to the average citizen to be authoring a bill, and to hold hostage the paychecks of the men and women in uniform over the issue of when we give victory to the other side.

And that is when the $96 million dollar supplement began to expand like Murtha's waistline. When it was finally passed it had ballooned to nearly $124 million.

Now don't get me wrong - I think that spending more on defense is nearly always a good thing. The problem with this evolving spending measure was that it was all about the pork. The additional $28 million added to the bill was the price of all the "gimmes" that Democrat leadership was forced to pony up just to bribe, er... buy, scratch that... secure the reluctant congressional members’ votes. And by increasing the price tag by more than an additional one fourth of the monies of the original supplement, they were only able to get 218 votes - the barest of bare minimums to get the measure passed.

So not only did the Democrats author a resolution that called for the terrorists to claim victory on August 31, 2008, not only did they twist arms of lower ranking members to get them on board, now they were willing to spend the money that you and I are sending them by way of our tax bill - to fund the effort to buy congressional members' loyalty to the concept of the terrorists winning.

Am I the only one in America that thinks this is truly, dastardly, diabolically - sick?

Personally I believe I work far too many hours, for not nearly enough money, to be paying the exorbitant amount of taxes - to only have them be used against the safety and welfare of my family.

How do these people sleep at night?

It is one thing to attempt to a have a philosophical position that spouts platitudes about the violence of our world. It's another to be against war as a general principle and long for the day when conflicts can truly be decided by judgment and fair play.

But when we have sinister forces on earth that seek our destruction and we have members of Congress who instead of representing the safety, security, and freedoms of America - decide instead to take our own income and bankroll our future destruction, then somebody, somewhere has to say something!

Fortunately we have a President who will have the judgment to veto this measure. But I am still greatly disturbed by the fact that the "People's House" of those who represent us, are so eager to wave the flag of surrender. They could not telegraph any more precisely how they would like to see us lose, and the terrorists win, than by putting a date on a piece of legislation for total terrorist victory… And they did it before our watching eyes.

It is unwise to believe that 218 congressional members know more about the situation on the ground than the commanders who serve us without political bias or corruption.

It is unsafe to surrender the type of staging ground Iraq would become if we were to leave the terrorists there unmolested and undefeated.

It is un-American to act in the interest of our enemies.

It is unpatriotic (against one’s love for one’s own country) to legislate, campaign in favor of, and bribe representatives to vote for defeat.

And it is unacceptable that Democrats spit on “We The People” in this fashion.

Why do liberals seem to hate America while bristling when we call them anti-American? Because they DO love America. They love its land, the physical space that America occupies, but they abhor capitalism, and therefore liberals hate everything that made America what it is today.

One last thought here.

For a good while the Democrat leadership have denied that Iraq had anything to do with the war on terror even while the bombings and murdering by the Al Qaeda in Iraq goes on daily. I am amazed at this every time I read or hear this.

They shutout and totally ignore the realities that we face even after being told time after time after time they still live in denial of the truth.

A letter from Zawahiri sent to Zarqawi of his plans for his side on the war. He states the following

So we must think for a long time about our next steps and how we want to attain it, and it is my humble opinion that the Jihad in Iraq requires several incremental goals:

The first stage: Expel the Americans from Iraq.

The second stage: Establish an Islamic authority or amirate, then develop it and support it until it achieves the level of a caliphate- over as much territory as you can to spread its power in Iraq, i.e., in Sunni areas, is in order to fill the void stemming from the departure of the Americans, immediately upon their exit and before unIslamic forces attempt to fill this void, whether those whom the Americans will leave behind them, or those among the un-Islamic forces who will try to jump at taking power.

There is no doubt that this amirate will enter into a fierce struggle with the foreign infidel forces, and those supporting them among the local forces, to put it in a state of constant preoccupation with defending itself, to make it impossible for it to establish a stable state which could proclaim a caliphate, and to keep the Jihadist groups in a constant state of war, until these forces find a chance to annihilate them.

The third stage: Extend the jihad wave to the secular countries neighboring Iraq.

The fourth stage: It may coincide with what came before: the clash with Israel, because Israel was established only to challenge any new Islamic entity.

My raising this idea-I don't claim that it's infallible-is only to stress something extremely important. And it is that the mujahedeen must not have their mission end with the expulsion of the Americans from Iraq, and then lay down their weapons, and silence the fighting zeal. We will return to having the secularists and traitors holding sway over us. Instead, their ongoing mission is to establish an Islamic state, and defend it, and for every generation to hand over the banner to the one after it until the Hour of Resurrection.

If the matter is thus, we must contemplate our affairs carefully, so that we are not robbed of the spoils, and our brothers did not die, so that others can reap the fruits of their labor.

D-If we look at the two short-term goals, which are removing the Americans and establishing an Islamic amirate in Iraq, or a caliphate if possible, then, we will see that the strongest weapon which the mujahedeen enjoy - after the help and granting of success by God - ispopular support from the Muslim masses in Iraq, and the surrounding Muslim countries.

So, we must maintain this support as best we can, and we should strive to increase it, on the condition that striving for that support does not lead to any concession in the laws of the Sharia.

He also wrote about the media in the following.

However, despite all of this, I say to you: that we are in a battle, and that more than half of this battle is taking place in the battlefield of the media. And that we are in a media battle in a race for the hearts and minds of our Umma. And that however far our capabilities reach, they will never be equal to one thousandth of the capabilities of the kingdom of Satan that is waging war on us. And we can kill the captives by bullet. That would achieve that which is sought after without exposing ourselves to the questions and answering to doubts. We don't need this.

If you are interested in reading the letter if you have not already, a copy of it can be found at http://www.iraqfact.com/Zawahiri_letter_to_Zarqawi.html

For DemocRATs in defeat there is victory. The fact that they are putting everyone in the US in joepardy doesn't matter as long as there is political gain. A massive recall movement is in order.

Too bad the GOP spent like drunken sailors in recent years. If we hadn't we could make better protests against all the pork.

For the GOP to complain about pork now seems a lot like saying "Where's my pork chop?".

Democrats crave defeat because they are self-hating people who feel guilty with success. They are manipulated by international forces, (and have been since the 1930's)that actively work for a weakened US. The end of the cold war with US victory was the scariest moment in history for these forces. The desperation with which they have sought the weakening of the US ever since is appalling but not unexpected.

The forces of the left use a variety of tools to weaken us. They use the tax laws to make us weak economically. They seek imaginary environmental issues to limit our industrial and agricultural strength. The seek to limit the 2nd amendment to remove power from the hands of individuals and inculcate a sense of dependency in the population. They seek to limit our speech so as to limit our thoughts. The plan is general, pervasive and fairly successful. Look at how they marginalize people like Ann Coulter who speaks her mind. Look at how the term "gun-nut" sounds reasonable when applied to any gun owner.

If we won the war against islamo-fascism tomorrow and became energy independent by next Wednesday and proved that climate change (if it exists at all) was caused by the sun and not man, the left would have to find another weapon with which to limit us.

There are only two human forces on earth, one fighting for individual freedom and the other fighting to limit it. The first fights from a position of loving strength, accomplishment and individual excellence, the other from a position of self-hating, weakness and groupthink.

Be careful about using the "C" word in public though, as you'll immediately be labeled a McCartheyist. I prefer "Bolsheviks."

Bolsheviks is probably to accurate for the mavens of the left to understand, and goes right over the head of those uneducated in history. I often use the term I first saw used by David Horowitz, neocommunist. Horowitz knows what he is talking about given that he was once a member of the "new left".

The Rats collectively are pacifists. They have almost no morals, but the remaining shred thinks killing people is the only sin.

They think the issue of war was settled in the 70's. There shall be no war. None! There is no cause to justify the killing of people that requires war.

We commonly refer to enviros a representative of a new religion, but pacifism is close to the same irrational belief.

Why do Democrats crave defeat?

First, democrats hate America. If you look at the majority of them, there are many that think capitalism is bad and government is good. More people on the gov's teat and their party keeps growing. I've talked to many dims who think that no single person or corporation should be allowed to have more money than themselves. They actually believe in 100% socialism.

Many dims are either immigrants who came here from depressed countries to make better lives for themselves. The first thing they do, is see that they can live on the taxpayers' contribution and so begins another dim on the way to welfare.

Social programs and the constant pork projects the dim congress is passing is a good example of what the dim's idea for the US. They hate the fact that people can actually make it on their own and not have big gov helping them survive.

I see another reason - a political reason.
Liberals are democrats. Democrats are diametrically opposed to anything Republicans are for. If Republicans had come out against the war after 9/11 the Democrats would have been major warmongers.

I am pleased that my congressman (Lincoln Davis (D-Tn)), despite being a democrat, voted against this silliness. I wish more democrats were like him.

I think it is more than defeatism. The Democrats are so consumed with Bush hate that they must discredit him at every turn and how better than to not only blame him for an unpopular war but also an ignominious defeat. The August 2008 time table is not arbitrary. They want the war to come to a humiliating end just in time to have the maximum effect for the 2008 elections.

This is all being done for political power. The Democrats have two objectives. First to placate their radical anti war leftist base and second to pick up the majority of American people who they see as tired of the unpopular war. What they are not understanding is that the sycophant MSM is no longer the major source of news and the people are finding out what is really happening in Iraq. They also do not understand that the Islamic fascists emboldened by what they see as a weak American resolve will again attack the US in an attempt to influence the 2008 elections as they did so successfully in Spain.

Final Vote: Jihad 218-Troops 212

As regards the 218 members of Congress who voted for Jihad....

U.S. Code Title 18, Section 2381 Treason. "Whoever, owing allegiance to the United States levies war against them or adheres to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort within the United States or elsewhere, is guilty of treason and shall suffer death, or shall be imprisoned not less than five years and fined under this title but not less than $10,000; and shall be incapable of holding any office under the United States".

Nothing is too extreme for you though, is it? You do more damage than good.

Ah crap, didn't I just finish trying to explain things to you in another thread? Well, in for a dime, in for a dollar:

If the net result is treason to America, it doesn't matter if it was 'simply misguided', 'ignorant', etc., you want to make excuses for treason, I say hang the traitors.

Gator113 doesn't think that's too extreme, I'm beginning to think you're just a little too sensitive for your own good.

Well said and I couldn't agree more ...

With few exceptions, Democrats are cowards, traitors, liars and fiends.
Put Bill and Hillary at the top of that list.

Democrats prefer to give aid and comfort to those who would rob, rape and murder us
Just this morning I saw Jimmy Carter talking about Iraq and terrorists and he said we have to, "love those who hate us."

Democrats believe that every day is April 15th
I'll never forget the day congress passed Clinton's biggest tax hike in history and the Dems danced in the aisles.
