Giuliani campaigns in Newport Beach (and outlines his positions)
Daily PIlot ^ | March 24, 2007 | Amanda Pennington and Alicia Robinson

Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani led off with his strongest card, his terrorism-fighting credentials, before touching on healthcare, immigration and energy policy in a speech to a welcoming crowd Saturday.

"Sept. 11, 2001, taught me — and I believe it taught a lot of people, including President Bush — that we have to remain on offense," Giuliani said. "That means that we have to use our military. We can't show weakness."

Giuliani seemed to hit all the right notes Saturday, getting applause when he criticized Democrats' stance on healthcare and advocated vouchers for schools.

On immigration, he told reporters he doesn't support amnesty for illegal immigrants, but he could support a guest worker program if there were adequate border security and tamper-proof ID cards. He said that even if illegal immigrants "can demonstrate that they are lawful, that they are paying taxes [and] that they'll pay penalties," they still shouldn't be put ahead of people who go through legal channels.

"And citizenship here, if it's earned, should be premised on being able to read and write English and understand American history, so we restore assimilation to the process of immigration," he said.

"Nothing will unite the Republicans more than a candidate who can beat Hillary Clinton," Curry said.

Rudy is running his campaign the same way EVERY OTHER LIBERAL does. He is "flip-flopping" to go after the votes he wants.

If you're going to support Rudy in the Republican primaries, you're going to have to be willing to bend the truth and overlook liberal tendencies.

A fresh copy of the daily talking points is also helpful.

So is Hunter Duncan going to come out and promise that if elected he will end abortion? How about Fred Thompson, will he come out and promise to end abortion if elected?

I thought I asked you not to post to me anymore.

However, the answer is that no president has the power in and of himself to end an abortion. Only two methods would be available to end abortion:
1. A pro-life Amendment to the Constitution. This would take a large pro-life majority in Congress and is probably a long shot.
2. The Supreme Court would need to overturn Roe v. Wade. To do this, we need as many pro-life justices as possible AND the right case to rule on. Right now, we probably have four and Anthony Kennedy MIGHT vote to overturn on the RIGHT case.

But, let me ask you this. Why should we expect ANY PRESIDENT to knowingly appoint any judge who has views that are totally opposite of his own? And if we're honest, the answer is that we can't. Therefore, if we want to have any chance of Roe v. Wade being overturned, we need a president who is pro-life and Hunter and Thompson both are.

No I dont deny posting that. Every word of it is true. I was asked to remove that from my about page AFTER my posting privledges were restored after you and your ilk falsely accused me of being a "troll" and got me banned.

Thankfully, the LEad Moderator stepped in and realised that it was you guys trying to ban Rudy supporters by flamebating and then crying to the admin that they are "trolls".

I am pretty certain they are on to your tactics now.

Nah, I think that a lot of Rudyites are just as liberal as he is, so liberal tactics of obscuring truth are second nature to them.

It all comes down to judges and legislation. Ending legal abortion would require a few more appointments to the SCOTUS.

Do you think Rudy Giuliani (Mr. "Presidents traditionally appoint judges that agree with them") will be more likely to appoint conservative, constitutionalist judges than someone like Duncan Hunter, Fred Thompson, or even our current President?

"Duncan Hunter, Fred Thompson," wont ever get the chance to appoint because they cant win a general election. I do not advance the Pro-Life cause by allowing the democrats to control the WH, Senate, and House. PERIOD!

What tactics are those - telling the truth?

"Nothing will unite the Republicans more than a candidate who can beat Hillary Clinton," Curry said.

Nothing will split conservatives off from the repulicans (whove sold them out since King George II got elected) like a liberal Republican candidate who is the same as Hillary (except for a smaller pair). Look for a third party if the NY liberal gets the nomination. There will be conservatives who don't vote for him in droves.

*sighs* That's twice today I've been insulted as Clintonian (someone called me a Hillary pawn, which is essentially the same thing).

Spam is something posted over and over, repeatedly.

Using that definition, all of the posts about Rudy's liberal record (which I note you aren't even bothering to refute at all) ARE spam.

But, using that same definition, all of these Pro-Rudy polls (polls that are meaningless and have no meaning this far away from the primary) are spam as well. I recall a pro-Rudy Deroy Murdock article being posted FOUR times; can I call that spam?

All I'm saying is that I see no refutation of the information being posted; I only see "See no evil, hear no evil".

But you're all in a twist because you think your candidate may get beat in a primary? If Rudy can't win the primary without his minions marginalizing all other candidates, why would any one think he can win a general election?

That does not mean you don't keep up the fight. Roe v Wade did not start from the bottom up. It became law of the land by a liberal weighted Supreme Court.

Life never offers guarantees, but you can certainly do everything in your power to change things.

It is impossible to address abortion through education tainted by the left. They spend 24/7 pushing abortion on the young minds.

When you talk about a battle for hearts and minds, THIS is the real struggle we are in. The left can achieve full power by dragging down all that is good. They will achieve full power when we surrender our values for votes.

I will acknowledge that Duncan Hunter has an "uphill battle" ahead of him; however, Fred Thompson is nationally recognized and well liked. The polls very clearly show that he is at least as strong as Rudy.

If you are as pro-life as you claim to be, it might make sense for you to start looking at some candidates who share those beliefs.

And how does supporting a Pro-Abortion candidate advance the Pro-Life cause?

You see there is the difference between Rudy people and the other people who like other candidates.

Yep. Y'all call us KKK members and think it's just fine.

I just personally dont know too many African Americans that get accused of being in the KKK as he does, do you? I mean, he very well may be. I just thought it odd that a man who claims to be African American makes such light references to being call a KLANSmen.

But thats just me., I guess I run in different circles, where such is considered way more offensive. I mean, this guy was asking mods to have me BANNED because he didnt like what I was saying...but not the guy calling him a KLANSmen?

Just thought it was strange... carry on.
