A mistake, a raid, a couple terrified

The man leveled his gun at Nicole Thompson's face.

Moments later, he had the mother of four on the ground with the barrel to the back of her head. According to her and her husband, the man screamed, "If you move, I'll shoot you in the f-- head!"

Like to stick to my own definitions, don't you?

Nope. The "living document" crowd put me off of that, permanently.

Really no need for government to stick its nose into this, right?

Maybe, maybe not. Which government, and how far?

"We're not afraid of the bad guys as much as we're afraid of the good guys," Brad Thompson said. "Do I call 911 again, and who do I call now that I've complained about them?"

Smith and Wesson

There were no exigent circumstances here, only a complete failure to act as professionals.

Agreed.

The mess was entirely one of the police's own making. They owe a huge explanation, apologies and some officers' suspensions without pay, at the minimum.

Without appropriate consequences, this kind of behavior from LEOs will only grow exponentially. It's human nature.

I'm sure the cops from the 'old town' called the cops in the new town to 'warn' them about him.

Kinda like - you wonder how Edwards can even get a doctor to look at any of his family.....

They sound more like "exceptional" Conservatives than "social" ones. The ones who say "I am a conservative, except...______________."(fill in the blank).

I am against legalizing drugs, but I am also against throwing the Bill of Rights down the crapper to fight illegal drugs.

Adequate control of the borders will cut down on a lot of the problem (and so much more!) and it is mandated by the Constitution.

The JBT M.O. and the 'war' hype have just contributed to the militarization of the civil police and the erosion of Constitutionally protected rights (and the usurpation of the people's power)--and that is not supposed to be, period.

So what ruling did SCOTUS pass to make state level cops across the board act like thugs?

My point was removing citizens rights slowly and surely....this is not a Lib or Con issue. It's about the smoke and mirrors that those on both sides of the isle play to acquire more control of the population...in the meantime, refusing to enforce laws already present on the books. Illegal immigration for one.

The willful intent of politicians / lawmakers to have the f'n excuse to pass more stupid laws to enforce at their whim.

The Socialist Agenda does not equate to the Liberal Agenda.

Sad part, many Americans say or do nothing when BS continuously crops up in government. William Jefferson, D. LA.... another fine example of the 2-faced BS in our government. Congress, the FBI, and the US Attorney General Bozogonzales all in lock-step on this dude with the evidence clearly on film!! Where's the beloved Breyer and Ginsberg on this item??

Wickard v. Filburn started it. It took the DEA operating under the authority established by that ruling to create the "Task Force" operations that train, direct, and in some cases pay the salaries of local cops involved in these operations. They set the example for the rest.

Hey, you are either a libertarian or not a libertarian. There's no middle grounds here.

The nice thing about absolutes is that they free you from the burden of thought.

Thanks for the information. It seems as though selective enforcement of the law is the MO nowadays.

Ever wonder why hardly any prominent citizens are ever tied to 'the business' of drugs? Someone always knows who's moving quantity. It has to come in by air, ship or truck. Mena, Arkansas comes to mind.

May I inquire as to why you posted it all?

My vote is that it was relevant.

What are they supposed to do? Politely ask everyone to calm down so they can figure out what's going on?

That would certainly be a nice start.

if you sue the cops, who are you going to call next time you need help?

Call on yourself.

There is no situation that the arrival of a law enforcement officer cannot make worse.

Plenty of liberals are also drug warriors. When was the last time you heard a democrat speak out against the abuses of power and infringement of civil liberties occurring more and more often in the name of the WOD?

There is a reason for this.

Unlike Republicans, liberal Democrats are opportunists.

Whatever advances their command, control and revenue agenda suits them just fine. Conservatives and Republicans are just their useful idiots.

Okay, one can, and you do, argue that the police did, given circumstance once occurring on that porch, act properly.

I can even agree with you in hypothetical.

In instant case, no, they did not act properly once situation went down, imo, from the write ups description. Steroid-abuser style policing. Lucky, very lucky no dogs killed, and damn lucky no people killed.

But that's not anywhere near as significant as what set up the situation up to that point.

They set themselves up for trouble, six ways from Sunday. and they got it. They f-d up everybody.

I wouldn't go that far but then again, I'm thinking of one that I would not want to meet out on the street...
