WASHINGTON -- White House Advisor Karl Rove was the target of a protest on the American University campus Tuesday night, NBC 4 reported.
Rove was on the campus to talk to the College Republicans, but when he got outside more than a dozen students began throwing things at him and at his car, an American University spokesperson said.
The students then got on the ground and laid down in front of his car as a protest.
The students said security officials picked them up and carried them away so Rove could leave.
Police said they have dealt with a lot of protests on campus and this one was handled peacefully.
No one was arrested.
Haul their asses to Guantanemo Bay.
“The car went thump-thump and I thought I had hit something, but I wasn’t sure. So I backed up and the car went thump-thump again. I looked out the window but didn’t see anything so I pulled out again. Thump-thump!
Dang, I gotta get this car looked at...”
I’m so freaking sick of this ... this DOUBLE STANDARD.... We are losing folks...WE ARE LOSING.
My sister graduated from AU with a degree in foreign service. I’m sure she’s ashamed. I’ll have to call her tomorrow and chat about this with her about this.
There is a lot of anger on campuses toward Bush administration member these days with very little basis. The average student on my campus (probably about 95% lib) has little to no reasoning to support their hatred of Republicans when pressed.
It’s very frightening that the Establishment is able to gin up animosity so easily with so little to go on.
They were laying down in front of the car, right? So obviously they *want* to get run over.
Stupid...
Why not?! Isn't assault with a deadly weapon a crime in the US any longer?
My guess is they used stuff like eggs, hardly deadly.
Even so, I have no idea why someone wasn't charged with harassment and/or assault.
I have no problem with protest. Protesting, however, must be verbal/visual only.
Good point...I was picturing rocks...but it might have been less dangerous...or it could have been rocks and bricks...I don't recall seeing it covered in the article.
Even so, I have no idea why someone wasn't charged with harassment and/or assault.
Correct, even if it were eggs it's still be assault. Liberals are so illiberal.

Correct...a subtlety that seems lost on liberals.
There’s that party of tolerance and love again. I hate liberals.
I would have run over them.
The obvious question is: why?
It sounds like assault to silly ole me.
Notice which side is for Free Speech and which is a bunch of Thought Nazis??
Pray for W and Our Troops
Where’s an Israeli bulldozer driver when we need one?
It is against the law to threaten the President. Maybe that law should be extended to include his staff . . .
Fight the propaganda war , anonymously if you must . Bumper stickers(bumperart or cafepress), whisper campaigns, and subtle instigation of Lib against Lib . You are in prime territory for fun ! Just be careful . You are on the frontlines of this idealogical battle.
Unncessary. They did more than threaten him.
