There once was a cartoonist named Hart
For the Gospel he did his small part
And he proved it’s not a rumor
That God has a sense of humor
Picking Easter for Johnny to depart

About 10 years ago our pastor wrote Mr Hart and asked if he could copy and blow up one of his Easter strips to put in the hall of the church. He was very gracious and said absolutely.

I tried to find a certain BC Easter cartoon. The characters finish praying together and decide to meet at dawn for a “Sunrise Service” and the hairy guy stays behind and remarks “Son Rise. Serve us.” Does anyone have a link they can post?

So, did they ever save the cross?

So, did they ever save the cross?

No. But they haven't given up the fight. (Thanks for asking.)

Praise the Lord for Johnny’s gain. Thanksgiving that we had this voice of truth in something as simple as a comic for as long as we did.

I loved the one where Rodney was trying to sneak past some guards while dressed as a chicken. The guards said, "HALT! Who goes there?" Rodney screamed out, "Buck, buck-backaw!" One guard turned to the other and said "I've seen some ugly chickens in my life, but that Buck Backaw takes the cake."

I also miss Andy Capp. Smythe was brilliant.

ROFL! Thank you for the clam joke. It brings back such pleasant memories.

Shhh! Remember, clams got legs!

I liked the one where the messenger announced to the King that the Black Knight had stolen from his coach again. The King says “Curse the Black Knight! Who will volunteer to slay the Black Knight?” Rodney replies, “I will, Sire, for a bag of gold!” The Kings says, “Avarice is not a knightly virtue, Rodney.” To which Rodney replies, “I know, I’m studying to be king!”

I’ve been reading and loving “BC” for as long as I can remember. He taught me that “clams got legs!”

Rest in peace, Mr. Hart.
