Another is when the KING puts Sir Rodney in charge of the castle with the warning over and over that if the Huns attack he is to raise the drawbridge. “The castle will be IMPREGNABLE!”
With the King gone the Huns attack, Sir Rodney yells “Draw the Raisebridge!”
The final panel shows the King receiving a message from Sir Rodney..”The rabbit died.”
And then there is the Spook. Oh too many more! Don’t get me started!
When I come to an intersection with a “YELD” sign and someone is stopped there dawdling, I remember Sir Rodney and used to yell out. Good Grief! The sign says “YIELD”, not “GIVE UP!
I also miss Andy Capp. Smythe was brilliant.
I liked the one where the messenger announced to the King that the Black Knight had stolen from his coach again. The King says “Curse the Black Knight! Who will volunteer to slay the Black Knight?” Rodney replies, “I will, Sire, for a bag of gold!” The Kings says, “Avarice is not a knightly virtue, Rodney.” To which Rodney replies, “I know, I’m studying to be king!”
