Possible motive?

Just doing the assaults and batteries that Americans don’t want to do.

Trust me, the windows are pretty secure.

Sadly, Amtrak doesn’t allow firearms to be transported at all; even as luggage (unless I’ve read the rules at the station incorrectly).
Seems to me as they are subsidized with tax dollars they should be a public company with no say in the matter, but alas things are what they are.

This looks like a job for the Pinkerton Detective Agency.

Well I remember reading a story a few years back about how Mexicans in the South West were blocking train tracks, then they would rush out and rob the products from the trains when they stopped. I remember reading a story a few years back about a bunch of white guys who'd stop trains on their horsies or cars and force the bank vault open... Evil white guys... just evil... can you imagine being an evil white guy?

Is this related to a recent
trestle fire on that route? Are there people who want to shut down trains in Northern California for some political purpose?

West Sacramento train assault sparks probe Sacramento Bee
In a separate incident, rock-throwing young men attacked another Capitol Corridor train Tuesday afternoon in Richmond. One of the rocks broke a window and injured an engineer.

I do remember that one time when I was in Sacramento years ago on a business trip, on the news they was a bunch of protests because some train carrying nuclear waste was going through the town.

Naw, I’ve become old and nasty, like a wounded buffalo, I’d blow the horn and pull the throttle. I’ll bet they’d jump!

Well I'm not going to put your argument together for you. Are you saying that Mexicans haven't been stopping trains and robbing them?
I can tell an inadequate debate partner when they just leave a trailing bit of sarcasm, and never make an actual point.
Sarcasm is the protest of the weak, so they say.

Back in the early 90’s, I commuted on this route. One time the car I was riding in was shot at near Fairfield, but the windows did not break.
There were also numerous times when there was speed reduction before arriving into West Sacto, a crazy bum would lay on the tracks and force the train to stop, then would hug a wheel and they were awfully hard for the Engineer to pry off.
If they would have let the smoking passengers off the train such as myself, there would have been less of a homeless problem there.
