No doubt that Amtrak Management will leap--Leap I Say !--into rapid action in concert with local Officials and Authorities to protect their employees from future attacks.
San Francisco and Sacramento journalists will be standing by to convert the resultant press handouts into news copy.
There, problem solved.

Sounds like a gang initiation to me.

The words “group of people” deliberately hide something. I’d like to know what.

Former friends of the engineer?
In the Soclialist tongue "A group of people" should translate to English as "barbarians"?

“Think the next time they try it the engineer will stop?”
One or two times more is all it will take before the Pinkertons start riding the train.

or maybe throw the train into reverse, and try to get out of thereAin't gonna happen. The engineer would have to get permission to make a reverse movement from the dispatcher and will need someone on the back, usually on the ground, to protect the movement. The engineer did the right thing by stopping but getting off the train wasn't the best action. The area that this occurred is in a rough part of town. Usually the worse that happens there are rocks and stuff put on the tracks. They do need better police protection in that area and in areas in the SF Bay Area.

The engineer of an Amtrak Capitol Corridor train was seriously injured Monday night in West Sacramento after a group of people forced the train to stop...A group of people stood on the tracks to block the train...

Why slow down? Several hundred tons of rolling steel isn’t going to notice road kill if you’re dumb enough to stand on the tracks!

Missing Parenthetical Explanations Ping 1. We don't need no stinkin' parentheses.
2. Not to worry. The Group of People has Sparked a Probe (see #31).

Why? Did he cut off a lowrider in traffic? Blow his horn during a call to prayer? Fail to slow down for his graffiti tags? Questions, questions...

I emailed the writer of this yesterday (excerpted: "However, the story seemed very incomplete. Who were the people, why did they stop a train, why did they assault the engineer, is this a usual occurence??"
I received an answer today. Are you ready?
"At this time, nobody knows. The investigation is continuing."
