'Thug' bikers have it all wrong

By Mike Seate TRIBUNE-REVIEW Tuesday, April 17, 2007

Marie Malagreca wasn't looking for trouble when she traveled from her home in O'Hara to Washington, D.C., for an anti-war protest. But when the 79-year-old woman arrived in the nation's capital on March 17, she found her path blocked by a beefy, leather-clad biker with an agenda. "He got right in my face and started asking me what I thought I was doing protesting the Iraq war," she said, "and then he started calling me dirty names." Malagreca was one of several local protesters who shared similar stories of being roughed up, verbally abused and intimidated by a group of motorcyclists who staged a rowdy counter-protest to the most recent anti-war march on Washington.

I remember confronting a few of them. None of them could tell you why they were there. I had on a blue jacket.

LOL How true.

I had to go hat in hand to one of those this morning, because I forgot to forward my phone.

Beefy? Come on, motorcycle ‘thugs’ of yesterday and today are entirely different. The average salary of today’s Harley-Riders is $80k - hardly people who are thugs. Just lawyers, bankers, etc trying to get a ‘tough’ guy stamp.

I regret that I could not be there. I was going into heart surgery (mitral valve repair) on the 29th and didn’t have the strength for it. Looks like those who could be there had matters well in hand, Bwa ha ha haaaaaa. Not that I believe a word Marie says. I wonder if the author checked with the police to see how many reported assaults there were that day...

So the "beefy, leather-clad biker" had an agenda while grandma didn't? What a slanted POS this article is.

Seate is the resident black “activist” on the Trib staff. He went on a rant about certain bars on the South Side of Pittsburgh. Seems a mixed he knows couple got a hard time from a patron in one. He then writes don’t go in a place where there is a bunch of “old guys” it will be filled with smoke, avoid places where they have NASCAR on the tube and country music blaring, you will not be welcome. It’s called free choice..don’t like it?..go somewhere else. I wonder if the “mixed couple” he wrote of, is himself and a friend and he ran his mouth in the wrong situation?

One of my bridesmaids was protesting the Times Square recruitment agency and a recruit spat on her. I have no reason to believe she was lying. I told my sister it was good she got spat on but I did tell the girl she should have complained. The recruit probably would have gotten punished since most men in the military have honor and integrity unlike a lot of these lib types.

I have found that thug bikers of all kinds are the most willing to help a young lady with car issues, directions, etc.

Hey Mike,

Just read your article on the anti-war/GOE event in DC. I am wondering if you would like to share stories of how the anti-war folks treated GOE folks like me.

I am not one of the leather-clad bikers. I am a suburban mom in jeans and a sweater there with my husband and three of our children. Anti-war protesters crossed the median in front of where our permit allowed and verbally assaulted my children from the time their rally began until the time we left. They were called Nazis in training, Hitler youth, a**holes, etc. One man even stopped in front of my 8 year old son and screamed “George Bush is a mother ****** and your parents are a**holes” while grabbing his crotch and pointing to my son. This was punctuated with the many terribly classy signs they carried...**ck Bush, Will Give B***-jobs for Impeachment, etc.

I also have video available of anti-war folks spitting at some of our people if you would like to provide a balanced article.

Part of the reason I took the risk of bringing my children to an event like this was because I knew that folks in the MSM would portray the left as just nice, polite peace loving folks exercising free speech. They were classless from beginning to end, vulgar, disrespectful and crude.

By the way Mike, free speech means freedom to speak...it does NOT mean the freedom to speak without dissent or opposing speech. GOE was offered permits to exercise the same rights as the ANSWER crowd.

Your agenda driven propaganda hardly makes you unique in the MSM...how tragic for you.

From the article: Most of all, they have forgotten that a thug is still just a thug, even when he's wrapped in an American flag -- and trying to intimidate a 79-year-old woman.

And a traitor is still just a traitor, even when she is 79 years old -- and trying to recapture her misspent youth.

I am reminded of the events in Finland of 1918, particularly that of 26 January, when a group of Finnish punaiset Red Guards climbed the tower of Helsinki Workers' Hall and lit a red lantern to mark the start of the second major rebellion in the history of Finland. By the time it was over three months later, 27,000 of them were dead or waiting for their turn from the firing squads.

Go ahead, American lefties and *Progressives*: climb the tower and light your lantern. I'm happier knowing that the bikers and veterans will be on my side.

"Red Rover, Red Rover, send Pansy right over".

EXACTLY! :-)

PS: Michelle Malkin was standing right there watching as it all took place. I don't know if she commented on it, but it would be nice hearing her take on the ramming episodes.

"I am sure he has probably cut his own throat with this article."

A pity he has not "cut his own throat" with his employer, but then the day when the Trib was run by conservatives and not p.c. has been over for some time. I used to receive it by mail a day late to support it. That ended when it started competing with the left-wing P-G by taking a sharp left turn. It is still not nearly as bad as the other T-R owned local papers that circle P'burgh spewing absolute socialist propaganda as news.

I was there on 17 March, 2007 and I dare anyone to call me a thug. I ride, but I’m also graying and in my 50’s and at 5’6”, soaking wet I’m maybe 110 lbs.

As a member of Rolling Thunder, I’m looking forward to telling folks where to park at the Penatgon. :) Honestly, I’d rather deal with the MC’s than the MSM.
