Iraq: The Democrat-led Congress will hand President Bush a bill that requires troop withdrawals to begin this fall. Bush has said he'll veto it. Good. Now it's time for the rest of the GOP to denounce this charade.
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has said Bush is in a "state of denial" over the surge in Iraq. In fact, it's the Democrats who are in denial.
The $124 billion pork-filled bill was scheduled for a vote late Wednesday. Whenever it's passed, the bill they present Bush will be vetoed. Though it's possible they'll be able to override the veto, it's not likely. So what we have left is pure politics.
"On Iraq, the American people want a new direction, and we are providing it," said Sen. Patty Murray, the Washington Democrat and one of the lead congressional negotiators on the legislation.
She's right they do have a new direction. It's called reverse. Or in military parlance, retreat. But what's truly amazing is that the Democrats can't understand just how bad they look right now.

But maybe those words weren't harsh enough.
Hunter calls for Reid to step down over 'war is lost' remarks
Dead end? I don’t know about that - its looking more like a Democratic victory if things play out as exepcted.
1. Democrats pass surrender/pork bill
2. President Bush vetos
3. Democrats get credit for “trying to bring the troops home” without the cost of successfully surrendering.
4. At the last minute the Democrats pass the bill again without the withdrawal date but with the pork.
5. The President signs the bill.
6. Democrats get their pork.
We shall see.
>>We shall see.<<
This is one of those times I’d like to be wrong.
Sounds like 2 veto’s to me.....Or at least it should. They have jumped the shark, now it is time to go on the offensive. Not only on the war but on spending.

If they take out the troop withdrawal, fund the troops and leave in the pork it will be hard for the President to veto without the claim he is undercutting the troops himself.
“jump the shark” ... cool! I looked up the meaning a few months ago on dictionary.com. You made perfect use of it and I hope you’re correct.
Great editorial. Hooray Duncan Hunter for calling out Harry POS Reid!
I would never wish for the troops to be denied the resources they need, and I hope a clean bill reaches Bushs desk quickly. But a small part of me does wish the Dims continue to fight this issue long after Bushs veto. The longer this drags out, the more the American people will realize what a catastrophe is is to have them running the country and, God willing, will keep a Democrat out of the White House in 08.

Yeah but let’s remember this is about America winning and not cutting and running until Iraq can stand on it’s own. And hopefully in between we can give Iran a bloody nose so they think twice about sticking their nose in this fray and killing our troops. The Dems can have their pork, the weasels in Washington always find a way to that one way or the other.
I was more optimistic about the traitors getting some sense of patriotism just for one second and send a new bill after the President veto that does not have a surrender date but I am less optimistic now. I do not think the traitors will back off on this issue. Something very dramatic must happen to make them stop their treason, something very dramatic.

Who is to go on the offensive? The Republicans? Don’t think so ... they are all hiding in the tall grass wetting their diapers. Like my useless senator Sununu from NH. The idiot thinks siding with the dems calling for resignations of the AG and such will get him reelected in 2008.
Looking at the way things are going, the dems will have a field day in 2008 and the majority of the people in America (notice how I don’t say Americans) want the war over any way possible ... they DON’T CARE ANYMORE!!!
I wish the headline had stopped after the second word.
Funny!
Can someone explain to me how, in the REAL WORLD, the Surrender Monkey Democrats are going to get 2/3 of the House to vote for the white flag??????????????????
