What Was the Most Stupid Remark Made in Tonight's Dem Debate? (Vanity)

O.K. Freepers; I know most of you watched the 'Rats one and a half hour debate tonight. What do you think was the most stupid remark any of them made? I'll start it off.

I thought Sen. Dodd's statement opposing drug testing for welfare recipients was utterly stupid. He said that drug addiction was an illness and a person should not have to give up their welfare because they are ill.

Gag me with a book of food stamps!

If you, other private citizens and faith-based organizations, want to support anyone; that’s your call. But, hard-working taxpayers shouldn’t be foreced to support their habit anyone.

Fixed.

Boy, that sure was ugly watching that unravel,...you could tell the wheels were turning when she was saying that stuff.

The press will cover for her nasty statements about blacks not being “pretty” and attack Bush at the same time. You really have to wonder how incredibly low these people will go??

They are the sowers of racial hatred in this country.

I donate money to homeless shelters and certainly hope they are helping drug addicts along with everybody else.

Good for you...no sarcasm there. But, your choice of donation is different from our tax money.

You decide. She got bullied into it by Matthews whipping up the crowd but I think her point was fairly clear.

O.K. Jorge, we can all tell that you are not going to even consider that your position could be one of the things that divides America and makes the working class bitter and forced them to leave the DemocRAT party in droves.

So, lay down the crack pipe, go to bed and get a good night’s sleep.

You're not alone. There are civilized people here who know that a society is only as strong as its weakest link.

If we let people die of starvation on the sidewalk outside our homes, the neighborhood will start to stink.

Good post. Coincidentally, due to a recent event involving a now-former friend, my wife and I concluded that we have, without exception, NEVER experienced a positive conclusion when we have been generous to someone, or gone the extra mile to tolerate their failure to take full responsibility for themselves. We have determined that our generosity will henceforth be limited to our family only, as they are our first responsibility.

The government already disqualifies benefits to individuals who have controlled substance convictions.

The Hope Education Tax Credits are denied if the student has a drug conviction.

If the government can stipulate these qualifications for Education benefits, why shouldn’t welfare benefits be the same?

Obviously, drug testing and drug convictions are not the same thing. But the idea is similar: Benefits should be restricted for only “deserving” applicants.

OH PULEEEEEEZE!!! How many people have you seen dead on the sidewalk in your neighborhood this week?

The folks over at the DU must be missing you about now.

You might consider reading The Tragedy of American Compassion by Marvin Olasky. You will learn a great deal about life, and people, and helping vs hurting people, that you don't yet know.

I lived on the streets once, I also know about trying to help street people and can tell you more about life, and people, and helping vs hurting people from personal experience than any book you've read.

You missed my point entirely.

When a people come to you who have no food or shelter you don't give them a drug test or any other kind of test to see if their situation is their own fault BEFORE helping them.

You help them with their immediate needs first and THEN deal with secondary issues in their life as needed.

I wonder how people who are doing well in life decide that they are in the position to judge how morally deserving people who have nothing are of receiving help.

One more belated nomination.

When asked about the success of WalMart, former WalMart Board member HRC responded, “it’s a mixed blessing”. Do these dillweeds actually stand for anything?
