Plan to Help Rare Owl by Killing Others

PORTLAND, Ore. - A few hundred aggressive cousins of the threatened northern spotted owl may be killed by government agents with shotguns under a proposed federal plan.

The spotted owl was listed as threatened 17 years ago, and its numbers continue to dwindle through much of its range in the Pacific Northwest, federal officials said Thursday in proposing the plan to prevent the species from dying out.

The barred owls have crowded their cousins, the spotted owls, out of prime habitat, sometimes even attacking them. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service hopes that thinning the number of barred owls will allow the spotted owl to move back into historic nesting areas and increase its numbers.

Why do we insist on interfering with the law of the jungle? I thought that man was the reason spotted owls were endangered, now we find out it’s just other owls? LOL.

I have a National Geographic bird book and it says Spotted Owls are declining in part because the Barred Owls are out-competing them.

The spotted owl must be preserved! It tastes great when barbequed.

Well, then capture as many as possible [there are not that many of them anyway], and keep them in captive breeding programs in zoos and aviaries.

Spotted Owl tastes like chicken.

I also have a great recipe for robin and meadowlark, although I much prefer robin in the spring.....

“The barred owls have crowded their cousins, the spotted owls, out of prime habitat, sometimes even attacking them.”

Looked in my bird book and these look pretty much alike. It appears that the only way to accurately tell them apart is to apply the Audubon technique. You shoot them so they hold still while you paint their picture.

It appears to me that liberals teach evolution so that they can override it by their social engineering policies and programs. It makes them feel powerful and in control.
