Apparently, for Dershowitz, Carter's betrayal of the U.S. was acceptable, while his betrayal of Israel was not. (And I am pro-Israel.)

At least Carter didn’t run out to LA to help OJ get away with murder.

One can only wonder if in 1979 when Iran held Americans hostage for over a year, the humiliating situation was prolonged because of Carter's incompetence or because he was on the take.

He was on the take, T. L., and he sold out the Shaw and created the Axis of Evil Iran because he didn't get a 10% bribe on the Brown & Root port project contracted by the Shaw.

The bribing of Carter is the tip of the iceberg. I believe that many politicians, journalists, editors, environmental groups, and academics are on OPEC or Arab payrolls. Bribing foreigners is a way of life in the Middle East. We need a FEDERAL investigation of the role of such bribes. Essentially, a bribe to a leader in the Sierra Club who then opposes all domestic drilling is TREASON and should be prosecuted as such.

Is there hope for Alan?

Nope - just as is the case with Lieberman, his clarity only surfaces in Israel related matters.

Dershowitz is not exactly a quick study, is he?

I remember Carter's prounoucement during his presidential run. After he said you can trust me, I thought he was a phony. I turned out to be correct.

As for Arab money causing his anti-Semitism, I think it's a cast of which came first, the chicken or the egg. Carter is a big admirer of the vicious anti-Semite and populist, Tom Watson. I think his admiration for Tom Watson fuels Carter's anti-Semitism.

A Minnesota native with brains enough to keep his mouth shut about stuff he knows nothing about?

C'mon. NO ONE is THAT stupid.

[sigh] another pretentious twit.

"That is now Jimmy Carter's sad legacy."

And there was never a chance of the country having a positive memory of Carter. The man was a buffoon in 1976 and he will be a buffoon long after his death. Although, I think his presidency in no way reflects on the soldiers who tried to serve under him. It takes a certain strength of character to continue at a difficult job when it is obvious that the man in charge is a fool.

Jimmy Carter was clearly a failed President, and attempts to rehabilitate his image have failed.

Gee, Alan, you must be a rotten judge of character if it took you all this time to figure out what an ego-driven, petty little man, not to mention garden variety crook, Jimmy Carter is and was.

I now believe that there is no person in American public life today who has a lower ratio of real to apparent integrity than Jimmy Carter. The public perception of his integrity is extraordinarily high. His real integrity, it now turns out, is extraordinarily low. He is no better than so many former American politicians who, after leaving public life, sell themselves to the highest bidder and become lobbyists for despicable causes. That is now Jimmy Carter's sad legacy.

How the mighty have fallen.

BTW, the link to the Zayed Centre is not working.

Perhaps there are statements on that link that they don't wish us to see ???!!!!

"In 1976...A former student brought Carter to Harvard to meet with some faculty members, me among them. I immediately liked Jimmy Carter and saw him as a man of integrity"

Oye Alan, Alan, that snake was a schmuck then and is the same, if not worse today. When you were introduced to the crumb, some other people actually saw through that phony leftist who sold his very soul to gain the highest office in the land.

Alan, you are tops on Israel. You're half way there, totally dump the crackpot sellout leftists in Red 'Harvard' Square and join the good guys. Carter might as well be the official poster boy for every Islamo-nazi on earth.

We know that Carter was a failure and incompetent as President but I think we forget that despite that knowledge many considered him a person of personal integrity. I admit that in that regard I was one of the duped. I thought that he was a political disgrace but believed the image he projected as a person of deep religious faith and good will.

Now we know he’s a corrupt, unprincipled anti-Semite who never met a tyrant he didn’t like. I think Dershowitz isn’t defending Israel because he’s Jewish. Rather, I think his point is that Carter shows his arrant hypocrisy and corruption because he takes Arab money to denounce Israel - a U.S. ally, a democracy, and an island of Judeo-Christian Western civilization in a sea of Islamofascist failed sates.
Let’s not forget that Carter has made a career out of “human rights” and yet he’s sold out to the highest foreign state bidders whose own regimes are the most savage violators of human rights. It’s great when you can be bribed to express bigoted and unprincipled views that you already hold!
