But the key finding was in regard to foul calls, saying "black players receive around 0.12-0.20 more fouls per 48 minutes played [an increase of 2½-4½ percent] when the number of white referees officiating a game increases from zero to three."

Since the composition of most NBA team is 90% black (or shouldn't they be saying "African-American"? How insensitive!) and the staring lineups are of an even greater percentage, doesn't it make sense that they get more fouls.
This study is so flawed in so many ways that it's laughable however, it'll get play by the liberal sports gas-bags.
I would like to see the statistics broken down by the location on the floor where the foul took place and by the players’ position on the team.
I have a sneaking suspicion that the majority of the fouls were called in the paint. I also have a suspicion that a larger percentage of the guys playing in the paint are black as compared to the total population.
Time for a multiple-regression analysis!
The statistics are adjusted by minutes played, so that’s not the problem. The problem might be that the few remaining white guys in the league are generally guards, often 3-point shooting “specialists.” They are perhaps less likely to be involved in the commission of fouls, since they are playing more on the perimeter.
Of course, the fact that the league is 90% black doesn’t bother anyone, but the fact that there appears to be a minor discrepancy in the number of fouls called per minute played is a big problem.
And just think, tax money probably paid for this.
Study Shows More Black BB Players Than Whites Use The Word “Axed” Than “Asked.”
Bingo!
Not many white players driving to the basket in heavy traffic.
Probably the result of all of those “Driving While Black” fouls.
We need to pass a law...
Let’s assume that the statistics are absolutely true, for the sake of argument. Should we have affirmative action foul calling, with quaotas required? What is the point of a study when there is absolutely no remedy available? The point of the study, I believe, is simply to further enflame racial tension.
Can this even be called statistically significant? I mean, that’s a per game difference of maybe one foul. How is that significant?
So that’s what the N and B stand for in the NBA......
There you go! Teams with too many white players should be assessed a technical foul at the end of the game just to be fair.
Hmmm. This is going downhill fast, eh? Thinking of how tired those handful of white players are going to be, maybe we'd need more white players.
Now, how to get them? Maybe raise the net to 15 feet or something?
Idiots! They want someone (JJ, “rev” Al), to pick up on this and call it racism.
I think that the report is just a red herring to play the race card, nothing more - nothing less.
Well, blacks have always been more musically inclined. Whistling has always been an indicator of happiness. Mebbe they're just... happier!
Another way to interpret the stats is to conclude that black refs ignore fouls by black players.
Or that black refs call more fouls on white players
How about black/white refs’ calls on Yao? He’s Chinese not “white.”
Or maybe we need to find a number of “native-american” players to REALLY see rampant the racism is?
Guess they never watched Dennis Autry of the Chicago Bulls/Phoenix Suns play. He could foul out before getting on the court.
