I agree with you on Thompson/Steele, but for different reason. No way Hitlery takes Osama... she'll most likely pick Richardson(or someone else who will appeal to the mushy middle).
Thompson should pick Steele because he'd be the BEST choice for the future of America! Forget the electoral calculus.
Race and geographic balance are indeed important considerations, but we must not forget what a perilous world we live in.
We must not elect anyone as VP who is not fully capable and qualified, both in domestic issues and especially in foreign affairs, to step into the Presidency at a moment’s notice.
J. C. Watts is a good guy, but not ready. Steele, possibly. But choosing a vp candidate on the basis of race, any race, is not right.

The blogs are talking about Fred Thompson quite a bit. I thought Romney did well, but seemed slick. Giuliani was terrible. Brownback looked good. McCain looked stiff and uncomfortable, but focused on spending. Ron Paul is great on 90% of issues, but would allow al Qaeda to set up shop all around the world without “intervening.”
It would be national suicide for the Republicans to ape the Democrats' racism. Please reconsider.

come on. this race as all about face and name recognition. rudy has a lot of it. fred also has a lot of it. no one knows who fred is when you say his name, but once they see him they know. unfortunately, this race, like all the other races, has degenerated. and for my value sat, fred has the best mix of recognition and core values. rudy has plenty of recognition, but is considerably more liberal than myself.
