To the gates of hell

Simi Valley, Ventura County -- STANDING FIRMLY on the land that Ronald Reagan loved, Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., did not shrink from his own principles at the first GOP presidential candidates' debate held at the Ronald Reagan Library in Simi Valley Thursday night. More than any other national figure today -- no, I take that back because Democratic Sen. Joe Lieberman of Connecticut has put his career on the line as well -- McCain has shown that he puts what is best for his country and U.S. troops fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan before his political career.

As McCain recently told "60 Minutes," "I'd rather lose a campaign than lose a war." McCain has staked his career on pushing for the Bush troop surge and victory in Iraq. As for Osama bin Laden, McCain was his old classic self when he vowed, "We will bring him to justice. I will follow him to the gates of hell."

At the Reagan Library, party biggies and big donors ringed the front rows. Even with this audience, McCain bashed special interests. On spending, he pledged, "The first pork barrel earmark bill that crosses my desk as president of the United States, I'll veto it and I'm going to make the authors of it famous."

The buzz was that former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney won. Certainly, he gained the most. In the spin room, former Sen. Jim Talent, a Romney adviser, lauded the governor's sense of humor and "presidential" demeanor. Team Romney later bought rounds for the house at the hotel bar.

Mike Murphy, who has worked for Romney and McCain but isn't now, observed that people who have been wondering about the Romney appeal, now could say, "I see what it's about."

"I'd rather lose a campaign than lose a war."

I didn't know that the Golden Gate Bridge was for sale.

>>>As McCain recently told “60 Minutes,” “I’d rather lose a campaign than lose a war.”

Wish he felt that way before he helped shred POW data.

Am I the only one who doesn’t care what McCain says about following a possibly dead and certainly impotent man to the gates of hell? I would rather he had said something like, “I find it digusting how Democrats for the last 6 years have implied President Bush isn’t trying to find Osama Bin Laden. They act like our military is too stupid to find him.”

So that is his position today. Seems maybe he should of been thinking about that last Oct when he was grandstanding on his completely fraudulent “Torture Amendment”.

I am ambivalent towards Romney but have to give him major cool points to sticking to his guns and speaking truth to whiners.

Contrary to what the Democrat Noise machine keeps screeching, killing or capturing Bin Laden does not end the war. All it would do would give the Democrats the PR coverage to do what they want to do in their heart of hearts, simply surrender.

Romney was one of the few that did well in that GOP/sudo circus/Hardball spectacle. Matter of fact it was such a spectacle, I don’t think it is fair to judge how any of the candidates did.

One of the biggest problems I have with Romney is he qualified for Log Cabin Republican endorsement in the past. I can’t get past that.

NEVER FORGET

.

Before his joining in TV Debate with his fellow Republican Candidates in Southern California, Sen. JOHN McCAIN became the 1st Presidential Candidate to ever visit the Vietnamese-American Vietnam War Memorial that stands in Westminster, California.

The only such Vietnam War Memorial that honors both American & Vietnamese Soldiers who fought side by side for Freedom in a then Free South Vietnam long ago.

While visiting this War Memorial, the Director of ..”JOURNEY from the Fall”.. handed Senator McCAIN a DVD copy to view of his stunning Vietnamese-American Motion Picture Production titled:

..”JOURNEY from the FALL”.. MoviePremieres = Fall of Saigon CLARITY..

I'm with you on that. Neither Kerry nor McCain should ever be allowed to become president.

Nixon once said that Republicans, in order to win, have to run to the right to get nominated, and then run to the center to get elected. John McCain is doing his run to the right to get nominated. Politicians take polls to find out what it is the target group wants to hear; then they say it to them. That’s what McCain is now doing. This will be the way it is until Americans decide that substance is more important than campaign words and start looking at the pol’s record to determine if they want to vote for him/her, instead of listening to their hogrubbish words. Romney, Clinton, et al are all doing the same thing right now: Appealing to their base for the nomination. What they are saying has absolutely no bearing on what they really believe.
