A TOP US radio commentator claims Australian authorities are in secret talks to evacuate 11 million citizens due to drought.

If he's right, will the last Australian to leave the country please turn off the tap?

Well, it's all a bit of a joke - and the big laugh is on US talkback host Art Bell, one of the biggest names in American radio.

Bell, who is on more radio stations than any other US broadcaster, repeated claims that Australian authorities are in emergency talks with the United States and other Commonwealth allies for the "proposed evacuation of 11 million" citizens, because of the crippling drought.

Funny if the conditions Australia is facing weren't so serious. However plans being implemented in Australia to recycle sewerage for drinking water is no joke.

I wish the person who wrote this article knew that Art Bell is a joke. Each time I've heard him he's made some moronic claim which never came true.

They did some shown on the firestorms in/near Sydney on Discovery or whatever from a few years ago. Then went on with computer graphics etc. to show what could happen under more severe drought conditions and of course they showed a wall of flames covering most of the city as I recall. (”It Could Happen Tomorrow” or some such show).

If they can grow wheat in SA, they can provide enough water for Australia.

Auistralia has the world’s largest resources of Uranium, among other things. Ten nuclear power plants, exclusively dedicated to sea-water desalination, ought to do it. :^)

I remember back in the late nineties one night he was talking about Martians who live on earth amongst us, disguised as humans, and grew potatoes so they could be secretly transported back to Mars. At that time I didn’t know who Art Bell was but I stayed awake till 5 in the morning wondering what the hell he was talking about.

And it is being debated whether an Australian city, Perth, may one day be abandoned because of drought. Eleven million Australians would be about half the population. Australia is already the driest inhabited (so excluding Antarctica, though Antarctica could be wetter) on the planet, and its getting drier.

Or maybe that’s what THEY want you to think. And news.com.au is probably owned by Rupert Murdoch, so find the neocon, or the Greys. Whatever.

It is nothing more than a natural cycle, there is NO evidence that global warming exists, or is anything to do with this drought.

More likely its just overpopulation and poor city planning on the part of the Australians.

Forget about the people, in 5 weeks the Murray-Darling water boards will find out their yearly water quotas. Hundreds and hundreds of ranches and marginally-productive farms will probably get 0% allocation of their water quotas for the next year. They are looking at abandoning something like 15% of the irrigation infrastructure in Australia, and for this year, a landmass the size of approx~ Colorado will be left to return to the wild.

Some how a scene from Austin Powers comes to mind.

They forgot to tell what time of 'day' he's on.

Something along the lines of "Basil, this coffee smells like ....!"

"That's because it IS ....!"

"Oh, good. Then it's not just me."

"...At that time I didn’t know who Art Bell was but I stayed awake till 5 in the morning wondering what the hell he was talking about..."

You've never had an out-of-body experience? Never seen Sasquatch? Loch Ness Monster? The Chupacabra? Never experienced the Shadow People? The Grays?

The whole program—with the too-infrequent serious guest—is malarky. I stay awake listening to weekday alternate host George Noory, waiting to see when he gets arrested for sedition.

I never knew that; is it true?

That said, his middle of the wee small hours time slot has to limit the audience size.
