Six out-of-towners arrested on suspicion of trespassing

Six people were arrested Monday on suspicion of trespassing in Greensburg.

District Judge Daniel Love found probable cause for their arrest and set bond at $10,000 for each individual.

None of the six lived in Greensburg, according to Love.

"They apparently were from Wichita," he said, and the Immigration and Naturalization Service apparently was going to take four of the six people, he said.

They have not been formally charged, and their names were not available.

There are lots of Greenburgs. There was nothing in the article to help the reader associate this incident with the poor town in Kansas.

At first the article sounds like a joke.

There is no mention to looting or restricted access in this article. Only that they were from “Wichita” although if the immigration authorities are taking 4 of them, then they aren’t FROM Wichita.

Good point, nothing in the brief article with the incredibly bad headline would lead the reader to think about the poor town in Kansas that got wiped out by the tornado.

I do have a problem with the headline myself, unfortunately you aren’t supposed to change it and it was too long to add a parenthesis of something about the tornado. I didn’t think about the body, but I did add keywords.

The trespassers were from Wichita. Given that Greenburg KS has been prominently in the news lately, I don't think it was that much of a stretch. Actually, I thought of Greenburg, KS, as soon as I read the headline.

I imagine they were doing more than trespassing.

Our town was devastated last yr with a F3,there were tons
of looters arrested,even with National Guard and PD guarding
the worst areas.

I remember 2 illegals arrested while a TV crew was shooting.
