Hunter eyes funds for military wares (Duncan Hunter's "Pork")

Congress is expected to pass legislation in September that will provide $70 billion in emergency funding for combat readiness and replenishment of the military's war-damaged equipment, Rep. Duncan Hunter, R-El Cajon, said yesterday.

The amount would be $20 billion more than the initial allotment in the 2007 National Defense Authorization Act, said Hunter, chairman of the House Armed Services Committee.

In recent weeks, senior commanders for the Marine Corps and Army have testified before Congress that they need about $30 billion to restore their ground, air and communications equipment to levels before the Iraq war. On Tuesday, two think tanks issued a report that largely confirmed the commanders' statements.

“We are going to pay every dime identified (for equipment) by the Marine Corps and Army,” Hunter said. “In a shooting war, there is no substitute for unit readiness.”

Warriors who know the art of war understand the symbiotic relationship to logistics required for victory. Duncan gets it and applies leadership to support the forces in the field. No nonsense leadership in action.

Great article, pissant—————Hunter has it all, he just needs some exposure, yesterday. I wrote his office and suggested he draft legislation to crack down on sanctuary cities.Deny them Federal funding and prosecute those who will not enforce our laws. It would certainly generate some interest and provide some exposure. I am no longer going to participate in “Fred Fantasy Threads”. Whether we like it or not, the fight is now and Duncan Hunter is in it! Patience ceases to be a virtue when that which is anticipated already exists in greater measure.

Even if Fred gets in, and I would welcome the addition of another conservative, Hunter deserves the exposure.

I think I've decided on Duncan, too, after reading his stand on the issues...and so now I"m mainly just testing a tagline. *smiles*

I’ve looked for a long time to try to find something to dismiss Hunter over. I just can’t find it. I always find just the opposite.

He's right. There are plants from Ventura to San Diego to Arizona and Texas that can build the aerospace/microwave equipment needed. My place also builds things for France, Brazil, Italy and Japan because they have lost capability or the skill set.

I try to tell folks to get into microwave engineering. Everything learned there can be applied to other things like physical/mechanical.
