WASHINGTON -- American actress Drew Barrymore was named a World Food Program ambassador against hunger, the United Nations agency announced Wednesday.
Barrymore just returned from a trip to Kenya, where she toured WFP-supported school meal projects, the agency said in a statement. She plans to spend the week in Washington to advocate legislation in the U.S. Congress to increase money for school meals from $100 million per year to about $300 million per year over the next five years.
"I can't think of any issue that is more important than working to see that no schoolchild in this world goes hungry," Barrymore said. "Feeding a child at school is such a simple thing, but it works miracles."

So this means even more money will be set to the corrupt and poorly led regions of the world. The places where the leaders take the money we give them for food and deposit in their Swiss accounts. They prefer cash to the actual food shipments. The shipments are a logistical nightmare to sell so they can get the money into their swiss accounts.
Very little of the money makes it to the ‘children’.

In the UN budget, which the US pays for most of.... they pay for lobbying to get us to give them more money?

She seems to have straightened out a lot in her life, I wish her well in continuing to get straight.
If 100% of the money we sent over to feed these kids got used for the right purposes, I might join her campaign, but past experiences tell me the food will rot on the wharf or get stolen by politicians before any of the kids get fed.
Also no matter how many we feed they will still hate us when they grow up.
