House Republicans Wednesday threatened to shut down House business by calling a series of procedural votes until the Democratic leadership assured them that rules governing key parliamentary procedures would go unchanged.

Republicans began their assault in the mid-afternoon after hearing that the Democratic leadership allegedly planned to change the germaneness rule......

“This is an astonishing attempt by the majority leadership to duck accountability for tax-and-spend policies the American people do not want,” said House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio). “The majority leadership is gutting House rules that have been in place for 185 years so they can raise taxes and increase government spending without a vote. House Republicans will use every tool available to fight this abuse of power.”

A GOP leadership aide said, “We will bring down the House,” .... if the rule are changed, Republicans would continue to call the procedural votes and begin to thwart progress on the committee level as well.

What’s this little bulge on the House Republicans? Could it be a possible gonad?

I’ll believe Boehner and the pub leadership actually got back their manhood when and IF they follow through.

Take the issue to the American people. Buy TV air time and expose Pelosi’s political game playing along with her traitorous maneuvers and corruption.

If Boehner had a pair for the past couple of years, he wouldn’t have to catfighting with Mistress Pelosi right now.

I guess this is as close to a legislative riot we have gotten to in the House for a long time. I, and others, pretty much suspected that once Nancy got into the leadership position, and things didn’t go her way, she would go into meltdown. This my friends - is a HOOT!!

"...planned to change the germaneness rule......"

Maybe someone can explain what this is, why it's important. Just the basics.

Well the MSM had no problem exposing the “EVIL” Republicans when they were thinking about the Nuclear option in the Senate.

As a female I can say that women who end up in leadership positions for which they are underqualified WILL ALWAYS END UP SCREAMING AND RED-FACED.

Not sure how to read this sentence. Does this mean the Pubbies wil do this until (in the future) they are assured rules won’t be changed...OR the Dems have ALREADY assured them??

“House Republicans Wednesday threatened to shut down House business by calling a series of procedural votes until the Democratic leadership assured them that rules governing key parliamentary procedures would go unchanged. “

I don't know what it is - but you can study this and tell me about it when you figure it out......

THE GERMANENESS RULE

Clause 7 of Rule XVI of the Rules of the House of Representatives states that:

"No motion or proposition on a subject different from that under consideration shall be admitted under color of amendment."
