Rush: Immigration Bill Will Kill GOP
NewsMax.com ^ | May 18, 2007 | staff

Posted on 05/18/2007 1:43:33 PM PDT by kellynla

Supporters call it a Comprehensive Immigration Reform Bill, but top radio talker Rush Limbaugh has another name for it. He calls it the "Comprehensive Destroy the Republican Party Bill."

During Friday's syndicated broadcast of the Rush Limbaugh program, Rush criticized the Senate's immigration proposal as liberalism gone wild.

"Liberals are trying to tear this country down institution by institution and rebuild it in their own image, and this is one of the steps that they are trying to make it happen," he said.

Rush warned that if this bill comes out of the Senate in its present form - and it's highly doubtful that it will - the liberals in the House will not vote for it. He said the politicians realize that there are Democrats in California, Arizona, Texas and Virginia where illegal immigration is a red hot issue and a vote for this bill would be political suicide.

As for Republicans, they have already lost California, Rush reminded his listeners. If they lose Virginia and lose Florida, it's all over for the GOP as far as elections go. And being blamed for this immigration bill could cost them both states.

Rush explained that this is why Senate Democrats want Republicans to receive "credit" for passing this bill.

"It's a piece of legislation that hardly anybody has ever seen," he said, yet already "there are walls of opposition that are being built on all sides of this."

The bill, he warned, will create "a brand new, giant welfare state paid by the rest of us," yet illegal immigrants are telling the media: "'I don't like this. I don't like having to go home. I don't want to pay these fines.'"

They needn't worry, Rush said. The illegals will not be forced to go home at all. They are not going to pay any fines. It's not going to happen because there is no political will to do so.

"Once this bill passes they'll be talking about how if you have to go home it will split up families and they'll say the fines would be taking food out of the mouths of poor children by making the parents pay these ridiculous fines," Rush told his audience.

Speaking of why any Republicans are supporting the bill, Rush explained: "You could legalize rape in this country if you simply called it the Civil Rights Act of 2007 because nobody on Capitol Hill has the guts to vote against anything that claims to be broadening or creating civil rights. It's a code word."

You cannot be serious!

Holy smokes, you really want to provide amnesty to people who flagrantly break the law? What kind of message are you sending to the people who apply through legal channels to gain entry and citizenship to our great country? You are calling them chumps and idiots. You are telling them and the rest of the world that it pays to flaunt U.S. laws.

So what other rights and privileges do you propose to give to illegal aliens? I really am curious. California already provides legal services, health care and in-State tuition to illegals. These services are not provided to other U.S. citizens not residents in California. This is unbelievable. You want to expand this to the national level?

So in your mind law breaking illegal aliens should receive preferential treatment above and beyond what many other law abiding taxpaying U.S. citizens currently receive. All your illegal aliens who are awarded amnesty will also get “Affirmative Action” rewards and benefits when it comes to employment, promotions, college and university acceptance etc. in State, local and Federal government programs. They will be put ahead of the line of most Americans when it comes to rights and privileges. And you approve of this? I cannot believe this!

You are dead wrong.

"the illusion of inevitability"

This is the wicked, premptive tool used by several moderate Republican Party hacks right here on FR till they finally got their covers pulled by the host and are now former FReepers, thankfully!

Some of them jammed and spammed anyone and everyone supporting consistent and committed conservative candidates here in CA during the Recall and all subsequent statewide elections. Finally, in the mid-term national, they got way out over the line and got zotted, even taking some very good people with them!!!

You have titled the tactic in a precisely correct manner... "the illusion of inevitability!" It's a tool of the devilish, for sure!!!

They come here from socialist countries to escape socialism, and the first thing they do is vote to establish socialism here.

From corrupt countries to establish corruption

The GOP is an iceberg that has broken away and is headed south where it will dissolve into nothingness. Let it go. The new party should be called the ???????

You are right, I am ABSOLUTELY through with the GOP. Not one more cent to those traitors at the RNC. The only way to start a third party is something dramatic. This will not happen, but if the likes of Fred Thompson, Duncan Hunter and about 100 other Rep & Demo congressman at the national level announced they are immediately leaving their parties and starting a 3rd party it may work. It would energize the base to participate and build at the grass roots effort to take back our Republic. Constituents from both parties must be upset, more so on our side.

We already have laws in effect - it’s called legal immigration......and we have to control the borders. THAT is a realistic plan......the illegals can be deported one after another once the borders are controlled. NO other country in the world lets it’s borders go like this, we cannot survive if we do not stop it.

It's going to take a national catastrophe for the GOP to rise to power again.

Quite simply, it's their bad luck that their party consists of the kind of people who get terminally upset and outraged that people who snuck into our country and became productive are given absolution by our government.

The same government and law enforcement departments that have ignored the gorilla in the room since 1976.

The fact is we're in the middle of a ideological war here at home with a party led by Far Left...and yet, we're seeing total cooperation on this bill. Instead of taking the hint about your minority point-of-view you continue to profess outrage.

But hey...rather than look at yourselves in the mirror, you continue to act as if we've just hired Muslims to inspect our shipping containers.

Your numbers are such that henceforth, all elections will fall to the Democrats.

Hello?? {{{crickets}}}

"But I've got principles!!!"

Uh-huh. Here lies Kellynla. She had principles!

Don’t overlook the DNC/unions making ‘loans’ for the $5000 fine to fine young persons in return for their eternal gratitude (and vote...)...

It’s been a good week for RINOs and a bad week for conservatives. If conservatives in the GOP don’t start enforcing party discipline very soon we can write off next year’s election.

A good place to start would be for Rove & Co. to tell every one of the whimpering RINO’s who slinked into the White House last week with their “misgivings” about the President’s Iraq policy that unless each of them gets back into line they will be picked off by a very well financed primary opponent.

I expect DemonRats to be oblivious to the fact that the range of acceptable dissent is curtailed when the republic faces so many existential threats — the flood of illegals, AQ, traitors in our own midst, an MSM that conspires with our sworn enemies. But I expect better of all conservatives and most Republicans.

I hope you’re right. But with Julie Yanni as the nominal front runner I’m left to wonder.

I’ve had the ominous fear that there would come a day when I actually agreed with a perspective offered by the nation’s self-intoxicated know-it-all and reigning king of pious demagoguery, herr Limbaugh. And damn if that fear hasn’t become a reality. The guy who exaggerates and spits out rhetorical confusion like furr balls is correct in his evaluation of the terrible immigration bill; it spells the demise of the GOP as a politically reliable force for good government. Well, even a blind squrrel finds an acorn now and then.

LOL! Then I hope your life is in order. You'll appreciate that statement when you find yourself in a reeducation camp.

Or, more likely sitting home with no FreeRepublic to post on.

Right! I will actively campaign against the Scum that sell our our great Nation! I will no longer stand by watch the Rat Bastards sell us out of our borders, language, or culture. If we do not have this, then we are no longer a country.

If a majority of Republicans vote for this, then I am done with them.

Well, even a blind squrrel finds an acorn now and then.

I had the nearly identical thought this morning, upon learning that Robert Byrd had come out in opposition. But, in my part of the country, it's a pig, not a squirrel.

Secret negotiations, a bill rammed down America’s throat to benefit big business and the dems. Earned income credit for all new green card holders, free education, free health care, subsidized housing, food stamps.

The rich get richer on cheap labor, subsidized by the welfare system for new amnesty receiving “legal” residents, the dems get more eventual voters when these green card holders’ kids reach 18 and the American taxpayer (the middle class) foots the bill, working harder and harder to get by.

I’m fed up and will not take it anymore.
