Posted on 05/18/2007 3:25:09 PM PDT by harwood
Major Garrett just mentioned this on Fox News. Evidently Cornyn was angry at McCain for leaving him out of the loop. McCain responded with a profanity-laced retort.
Well, his daddy had a rep for being a wimp. I would think he’d be sensitive about aquiring that same label.
It’s sad that many have never heard of Sam Johnson and his genuine heroism. I guess Dims like Kerry, Webb, and Murtha and RINOs like McCain and Hagel are the only veterans that get recognition from the media. Many people don’t know about Duncan Hunter’s war heroism either.
I lubs dat moobie!
I’ve obviously missed a heck of day on Freep... darn that work obligation!
The MSM, LBJ, the Left and the Rockefeller wing smeared Goldwater as a “crazy man” who was not fit to be President. It was a lie. McLame really is a crazy man who is not fit to be President.
McNuggets a profane man? I don’t believe it.
At a bipartisan gathering in an ornate meeting room just off the Senate floor, McCain complained that Cornyn was raising petty objections to a compromise plan being worked out between Senate Republicans and Democrats and the White House. He used a curse word associated with chickens and accused Cornyn of raising the issue just to torpedo a deal.
Things got really heated when Cornyn accused McCain of being too busy campaigning for president to take part in the negotiations, which have gone on for months behind closed doors. “Wait a second here,” Cornyn said to McCain. “I’ve been sitting in here for all of these negotiations and you just parachute in here on the last day. You’re out of line.”
McCain, a former Navy pilot, then used language more accustomed to sailors (not to mention the current vice president, who made news a few years back after a verbal encounter with Sen. Patrick Leahy of Vermont).
“[Expletive] you! I know more about this than anyone else in the room,” shouted McCain at Cornyn. McCain helped craft a bill in 2006 that passed the Senate but couldn’t be compromised with a House bill that was much tougher on illegal immigrants.
Some FReepers didn’t believe me when I posted that Cornyn was opposed to this amnesty bill. I think this shows that he is one of the bill’s fiercest opponents in the Senate.
“There IS no article. This was reported minutes ago on FOX by a correspondent.”
Where did you get the headline?
There IS no article. This was reported minutes ago on FOX by a correspondent.
Then why did you state “foxnews.com” as the source?
Thanks for posting the source, on blog.washingtonpost.com - NOT foxnews.com like harwood posted, then later said was not an article but reported on TV. That type of deception lends incredibility to posts. Certainly, McCains inability to hold his tongue is not what we want in the White House!
Thanks. I used to like McCain, and still do in some ways. But this betrayal dooms his candidacy forever.
McCain may as well run for the Democratic nomination after his involvement in this amnesty-fest.
Unless things are even worse than I imagined, there shouldn’t be any way he could get the Pubbie nomination after crapping on the base of the party this way.
If he does, then we know all hope is lost for any sanity on our side.
Ouch, that's harsh....probably true, but harsh...lol!!!!
***Hug You? Kiss You? I Love You? A female sheep is a You? Yoo hoo who You? Freep You? I don’ like You? Hey You? Not you? Happy Birthday to You? I dislike the horse you rode in on and You? Wassup You? WSU [WhatSamatta U]? How about You? Knock Knock — who’s there — You? Et Tu, Brute You? Starts with U? Do the DewYou? Wait a second, I need to talk to You? What does expetive mean after all, can I ask You?
His outburst was witnessed by multiple U.S. Senators and staffers, and is well documented. The Drudge Report also has a story about it, as well as the Washington Compost.
The corrupt and arrogant old fart has FINALLY “jumped the shark” — and lost his ass in process...
Are we children here or adults? It’s rather childish to ridicule a poster about a typo. Although the poster jyro should have used the preview first before posting. But everyone knows he meant vote
McCain is a pompous jackass who lost his brains at a young age. Now, he is a senile oldster.
|Your Emoticon is Grumpy|
You forgot he's dumb as a rock and is vain and arrogant to a fault..
Some of us still believe him to be a traitor who sold out POW/MIA families to rush through "normalization" with the Communists in Vietnam.
We also haven't forgotten he attempted to shelter Kerry from the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth, by calling the SBVFT "dishonest and dishonorable"..
That charge was a better fit for both McCain and Kerry...
I’ve always loved that one.
Glad you kept it.
Of course, with McCain, there’s always a need for it.;o)
That is FANTASTIC!
Lol, thanks DC. I didn’t make that but don’t know who did. I make them MOVE!!
anyone happen to know the bill number of this new amnesty bill?
“I make them MOVE!!”
I would think THAT would be the hard part. ;o)
Lol, I just like animation. Sometimes very time consuming to do.
Someone else already posted this source, whom I thanked. harwood, the original poster of this thread did not site a source except “foxnews.com”. harwood later said that s/he heard it on Fox News TV. This constitutes a discrepency. harwood’s failure to supply accurate citation and contradicting him/herself discredited him/her. As soon as the other party posted this I thanked them.
McCain’s known temper does not equate to using the f-word. But his documented use of it in public certainly discredits him as a presidential candidate. The inability to control what comes out of one’s mouth is definitely an undesirable trait for the POTUS.
Fox News reported the incident, which was from the same source as the blog site at Washington Post and the New York Post. It was actually correctly attributed to Fox News, but it was not on their website originally, so the person could not have shown a URL at that time. I don’t quite understand why it was such a big deal to you, because there were several sources, all of which gave the same information.
“I dont quite understand why it was such a big deal to you, because there were several sources, all of which gave the same information.”
It didn’t start out to be a big deal, just an observation and a question about sources. Re-read my posts. Throwing a pejorative headline up with no citation, or in this case an incorrect citation, with no excerpt gives the appearance of being manufactured. When someone finally provided the blog source on WashingtonPost.com, which you later provided, I thanked them. Case closed. But it seems to be still going. So, I guess, “big deal” is in the eyes of the beholder.
I think part of the problem was that several hours or even days have passed between posts. Forget it.
