I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter: So help me God

Impeach all that vote for the current Immigration bill.

This thread belongs on DUmmie FUnnies.

Does an illegal immigrant have to run over you personally before you begin to see what is happening!? Bush, A REPUBLICAN is all for this amnesty bill that wont make any difference. They aren’t obeying the law now and Bush Administration isn’t enforcing the laws in place now so why should any illegal expose themselves?

“Any Senator voting yes on this monstrosity should either resign or be removed from office”
All we have to do is make a promise to them VOTE YES ON THIS BILL AND WE WILL VOTE NO WHEN IT COMES TIME FOR YOUR RE-ELECTION! TREASONIST BASTARD WHORES! I am ashamed of this congress and our President, siding with and agreeing with Ted Kennedy! DISPICABLE!

Sealing the border IS part of the WOT.

You cannot set standards to check every little old lady that boards a plane and leave the ‘back door’ open to the country.

How many nukes do you think you could fit in the luggage compartment of a 747?

Terrorists have no interest in hi-jacking planes, when all they have to do is walk across our unprotected borders unchallenged because the ‘law’ isn’t willing to stop them.

If you don’t think that Amnesty won’t give them easier access to the country, then you aren’t paying attention.

And there’s more. Google “Al Qaeda and the mexican border”

I have heard there are 70 Senate votes to approve this proposal. Does anyone have a headcount?

I'm not sure of that, but supposedly, Pelosi has told the White House to not bother sending this version to the House unless the WH can guarantee a minimum of 70 House GOP signatures.

I live outside of Pasadena,Texas . Each time I go there it is closer to being Mexico than Mexico. Each morning ,I read The Houston Chronicle ,City and State section of the paper. So many articles on Mexicans shooting ,killing and running over people. We have gangs all over. Go to the San Jacinto Monument on a weekend.Total disrespect for the Texas history there.Trash gets thrown everywhere ,beer cans etc. Go into a department store ,especially on a weekend. It looks trashy. I’ve been run over by them pushing shopping carts. Had their children knock items off the shelves ,pull clothes off the racks, race thru the departments, showing no respect. In five years ,you won’t recognize this country if this passes. Also I’m tired of being told in job hunting ,that being bi lingual is a must!!I do not live in Mexico ,by choice. I am a fifth generation Texan.

I can understand your disgust.

I don't know where this will all end.

JB,
Did you read this line?:
Impeach all that vote for the current Immigration bill.

Would you please explain just what good it would do to have a Republican majority in the Senate.

Have the borders been fenced?
Have the Border Patrol numbers been increased substantially?
Did they write an acceptable immigration plan or did they sit on their dumb asses doing nothing?

Just what good did it do when we had the majority. We had a majority of castrated, spineless cowards who chose to spend our money as fast as they could.

The Republican majority sucked as bad as the Democrat majority did. It is time we all stood up against this bunch of communists we sent to DC.

Fighting the war on terror while we are being over-run in our own country will only assure that our soveignty will go by the wayside. What will there be to fight for? A socialist scathole thats what. How about lets do both for our children and their children.

Impeach all that vote for the current Immigration bill.

Just which part of the oath, or the Constitution, does the immigration bill violate?

Not liking something, and I sure as heck don't like illegal immigration, is not the same as it being unconstitutional.

But we're going to start hanging 'em for violation of their oathes, let's start with "Congress shall make no law" AND "right of the people ... shall not be infringed".

Just for clarification, which part of the Constitution deals with immigration?

Art. I
Section. 8.

The Congress shall have Power
...
To regulate Commerce with foreign Nations
....
To establish an uniform Rule of Naturalization

I think immigration, both permanent and temporary, fits into those two powers.

The congress has the legal and constitutional right to pass any law that they can muster a majority of votes for. The unconstitutionality of the law can only be determined y the SCOTUS

Funny that the Constitution makes it quite clear that "Congress shall pass no law" and "Right of the People to Keep and Bear Arms shall not be infringed".

What you are describing is a Democracy, which we are not. The Congress is severely limited as to what sorts of laws they can pass, although they seem to have forgotten that sometime between 1934 and the present day. (That's when they at least *asked* the Attorney General if they had the power to pass a law. They didn't, but at least they asked, and thought about the question).

Members of the Legislative Branch can't be impeached.

While they cannot be impeached, they can be removed from office, and the process is actually easier (or at least simpler) than impeachment.

From Art I, Section 5:

Each House may determine the Rules of its Proceedings, punish its Members for disorderly Behaviour, and, with the Concurrence of two thirds, expel a Member.

But as you can see, it's a fox guarding the hen house sort of deal. If enough votes for it to pass, it stands to reason that there' NOT going to be 2/3 of the members voting to expell the majority that passed it.

Pity.

I guess I need to reread the book, I think it's St. Louis, or in that area at least. Problem is I loaned the book to my Project Manager, and he's a slow reader...

I'm not a lawyer and I don't play one on TV, but I went to good school when passing a comprehensive constitution test was a state requirement to get out of 8th grade.

If you are referring to congress I can't explain their actions except that they are motivated by special interests looking for cheap labor and the false belief that the Latino voting block is up for grabs. There is also a belief that 11 million people can't be deported. I agree, but the same factors that caused 11 million to sneak in can be motivated to make them go home. If there are severe economic disincentives to stay in the US illegally they will find a way to sneak back into Mexico.
