Images of Fetal Development

The following images were presented to Fr. Frank Pavone, at the time he was working at the Vatican, by a team of experts from Poland. The experts presented them also to Pope John Paul II.

Priests for Life is grateful to Professor Andrzej Skawina (Collegium Medicum Jagiellonian University, Krakow) and Dr. Antoni Marsinek, MD (Czerwiakowski Gynecological and Obstetrics Hospital, Krakow) for making these images available, and to the Zrodlo Foundation, Wychowawca Department, for the permission to use them.

We encourage pro-life groups and individuals to use these images, keeping in mind the words that pollster Harrison Hickman spoke to the 1989 conference of the National Abortion Rights Action League, "Nothing has been as damaging to our cause as the advances in technology which have allowed pictures of the developing fetus, because people now talk about that fetus in much different terms than they did fifteen years ago. They talk about it as a human being, which is not something that I have an easy answer how to cure."

CAVEAT: I am a commercial real estate broker, writer, and businessman. I have no medical training and don't play a doctor on television. But I am pretty sure that I seeing a developing human baby here.

My grandchild is at 7 weeks. Thanks. I just sent the photos to my daughter. I’m calling the kid Phoebe, just to make it easier to lift this child up in prayer. Her mother has had two miscarriages.

The basic problem is that Constitutional rights are conferred at birth not conception.

This is a fundamental problem that should be corrected with a Constitutional Amendment.

No court would be able to “interpret” that.

I’m sure at 4 weeks, the form is there, also, just smaller than what we see here. God’s creative power is awesome! Great article and pictures.

But rights belong to an individual as a consequence of being human. Of course citizenship is conferred at birth...I’m sure other privileges and rights are worded similarly.

But human rights overide that.

The basic problem is that judges and politicians can't or won't read.

The Preamble, the very foundation of the Constitution, makes it clear that the document's purpose is to secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves AND our posterity.

The word "posterity" is not only inclusive of the unborn, but of the as-yet unconceived.

"We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America."

I really wish I hadn’t gone to the other pictures at the bottom of that page.

How can anyone NOT call abortion murder?

And how can anyone who calls themself a doctor, mutilate and dismember one of Gods creations and call it “choice”?

Makes me think of our great grand daughter. She was a 27 week pregnancy. They laid her on a metal table saying she was still born, a few seconds later they heard a ‘squeak’. She was alive and now at the age of 2 1/2 she is a beautiful blue eyed blond with a smile that would melt your heart.

Our "rights" are not given to us by anyone. They do not exist except in our heads. We choose to respect the rights of others in exchange for others respecting our rights. It is the mental framework of a prosperous society. The most basic right is to be secure in ones property. With out property rights nothing else matters.

Amazing how hard folks like you have to work to not see what Thomas Jefferson and the other Founders called "self-evident."

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness."

Our rights to life, liberty and private property are not "conferred" by any man. They are the gift of the One Who made us. That's why they are inalienable.
