With much vocal opposition to the latest proposed immigration code reform, Americans are loudly and clearly sending the Senate and other Legislators of both parties a uniform message: "We simply do not trust you."
We do not trust you to see to it the laws are enforced no matter how craftly they're revised or devised. We do not trust you to see to it America's borders are secured foremost. We do not trust you to see to it America's sovereignty is placed as a top priority. Neither do we trust you to see to it law enforcement is provided with sufficient and proper tools to combat the massive invasion of America.
Americans are telling you: "Enforce our current laws - close the floodgate of illegal migration first, then when we see a legitimate enforcement effort fails expectations, we may then be more receptive to entertaining sensible code revisions."
It's time politicians simply realize one thing: Americans do not trust Legislators.
Americans are saying; "Prove your commitment. You've said you would add thoudands of Border Patrol agents. You've failed. You've said you would build the border barrier. You've failed. You've justly earned your no confidence vote."
"Why should we trust you?"
All these people do is make work so that, hopefully, the American people believe they are actually interested in doing the work they were sent there to do. They also believe that there is nothing the people can do about it. But....I agree. The people don’t trust them, and if that is truly the case, they should be recalled. No more laws are needed for much of anything. Close the borders, send the illegals back.....regardless of how many there are. As I have said “You can’t send them back if you don’t start”.
That pretty much nails it. No matter what they pass, they won’t enforce it, and the problem will get worse. We know it, and they know it.
Maybe we should all fax them a “No Confidence in You” vote in big black letters. I keep trying to think of something that would actually get their attention.
I agree. We do not trust the political class on this issue.*
You said it nicer than I would have.
“I keep trying to think of something that would actually get their attention.”
A couple of million armed citizens showing up at the Capitol might do it.
But yet it means nothing to them that the high majority of Americans are saying Secure the Border and offer no amnesty to the people not picking lettuce, but picking our pockets.
“Most politicians are lawyers, kind a splains it all.”
Indeed it does.
My brother graduated from law school last week.
I called to give him my congratulations and told him that at least I could still say we don’t have any prostitutes in the family.
He said “Don’t tell your friends lies”.
Hell, I have not trusted Congress for, for, for . . . . . give me a minute here . . . . for, for, for . . . . . . . .
Good idea. Even if just every Freeper did it they’d all get thousands of faxes. Make sure it’s the same identical document!
Yup...that’d work too!
One of the best comments I’ve seen about this whole mess yet.
There is so much Congress does for show that it then guts.
With pitchforks.
I was thinking ‘tar and feathers’ too.
AMEN! Needs repeating-—Most politicians are lawyers, kind a splains it all.
Congress only passes the laws. It’s up to the executive branch to enforce them. I suggest we vote against ALL IMCUMBENTS. Time for some new blood on the hill.
