We all know, of course, that Jesus took a Roper poll before enunciating the Beatitudes!

**Catholic politicians who can’t reconcile their political positions with the teachings of the Catholic Church need to either leave politics or leave the Church.**

Amen, I second that. Again and Again.

Did the Rasmussen poll ask only Catholics? If not, then why am I reading this?

**18 Democrats need to repent, or ex-communicate themselves, otherwise they are hypocrits.**

More than that. I think I read somewhere that there are 70 some Catholics in Congress. Of course, Brownback is OK. Santorum was OK, until he was rejected by his state. (Sad for him.) Wouldn’t he make a great vice-presidential candidate?

He didn’t say we should vote for democrats, just that people had reasons for voting for certain politicians. I didn’t press the issue with him. I just wanted to present a different argument. I find most priests are so swayed by “social justice” arguments to the point that they give more weight to “helping the poor” over any other issue.

The tragedy therein is that these “social justice” zealots have murdered 43 million, while NOT helping the poor or disadvantaged: the repubbies are NOT and NEVER HAVE “cut funding for the poor” or “hurt the children” or any other blathering lies put out by the democrat socialists to get votes.

Those lies are being used SPECIFICALLY TO GET the vote and support of the priest (and millions of others!) that you mentioned.

Much of the non-Catholic public won't understand or believe that it will only apply to a few key issues...

Especially if you help spread such lies.

It's Catholic.

It was all over the news at the time, and one of Clinton's aides issued a non-apology apology that basically said THEY thought it was AOK to receive in a Catholic church.

It was in Africa, the EEM customs may be different there.

Rasmussen Reports conducted a telephone poll with 1,000 American adults on May 16 and 17.

First, they're polling non-Catholics about a Catholic practice? I wonder when they're planning to poll "adults" about Muslim practices like murdering apostates?

Because he's a presumptuous ass who has calculated (correctly it seems) that he will not be refused. Of course he knows better. He simply doesn't care.

Those who partake of the Body and Blood of Christ unworthily eat and drink jugdment unto themselves.

Now where have I heard that before....

Think Kennedy. If there were any political figure the catholic church should excommunicate, publicly and loudly, it’s Ted Kennedy and most of his family.

Ted Kennedy has been excommunicated. He's a Methodist.

I wouldn’t call parish priests “social justice zealots”. What they are is massively misinformed. Most are overworked and are influenced by the mainstream media and have access to magazines that push that agenda. Their level of comprehension of these issues and economics in particular is very poor. I find that they will listen to rational arguments and I also find that almost no parishioners take up this task.

So yes I agree with you what has happened is that they’ve accepted a pack of lies.

Actually, Dubya got a majority of Catholic voters in 2000 and 2004. The Catholic vote, once solidly Democrat, has been trending slowly in a Republican direction for several generations.

It really doesn’t matter what the people who participated in this particular poll said. Most likely a good portion of the adults were not even Catholic. Even if they were Catholic, they still aren’t in charge of the Church. The Pope is headed by Jesus Christ and his servant on Earth, Pope Benedict XVI. The politicians have a choice. They can either follow the rules of the Church, or they can not recieve Communion. I don’t know why they are whining about not being able to recieve Communion anyway. It’s obvious the Church isn’t very important to them if they can go against most of its teachings.

So pointing out how people can misunderstand is “spreading lies”?

No, it’s the heritage of the Kumbayah Church, handed down from the most self-important decade(the 60s)by the most self-important people(the baby boomers)ever.

I find it the same here. Helping the poor is the big issue for our priests/nuns/parish, “social justice”, etc. It overrides any other issue for them.
