hopefully this will be one of the big defining issues of the 2008 elections and then the fence will be built and employement enforcement will be more serious so many of the illegals will have to go back home where they should be...with their families. Btw, I heard Giuliani on Hannity’s show and his response to the border bill was pretty sad.

“Why on earth do cities exist straddling the border?

She’s full of crap! In Texas we have a thing call a river that separates us from Mexico. One side you’re in Mexico, the other, you’re in the US.

I doubt 90% of Congress has ever been to our border.

"That, or divide the city in two with a fence."

...With a gate or two to please the locals.

That, or divide the city in two with a fence.

I’m not sure what Sen Hutchison is trying to point out but it maybe that she’s saying that there are private/commerical interest or ownership of the property up to the Rio Grande river thus securing a ROW for a fence may include purchasing some property on which to install it. If that is it, then so be it and get on with the purchasing/building.

That fence has stopped by a major per cent illegals.
Your comment shows you have no clue.
It is two rows of fence with Border patrol, patroling inbetween.
It is also one reason AZ is getting more illegals because the Feds haven’t extended as voted and approved the fence across AZ, NM, & TX.
Also why Hunter went to the White House the other week and asked what is the hold up and they did’t know it wasn’t being continued on which they should have been on top of this.

I think Tony’s representing the President. From what I remember, he was always for the fence.

Well, I was actually making fun of the Mexicans. That they hadn't invented the ladder yet.

I do have some clues. I do know that in places the double fence with patrols between has done wonders. I also know that in other places the border fence is easily climbed (without a ladder), walked through, or stepped over and that there is not always someone there to stop them. And that we need a REAL double or triple fence along the border.

I have pics in earlier posts of the fence.
It is working so well that illegals and drug cartels have dug tunnels with A/C etc. since they can’t get through it.
It cost us over a few million dollars to cement them shut.
In my part of the country humor on this doesn’t go far right now.
My city has over 1 million legal and illegal Mexicans.
Also the mega millions we are spending a yr supporting them.

I’ve posted on this board before that I am not so sure I favor the continued building of the fence. Everyone knows that fences built around socialist countries are meant to keep the people IN.

We may yet be quite thankful for the 81% of border area that remains unfenced.
