UPDATE: Six conservative senators are demanding that Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R.-Ky.) negotiate a full and open debate on the immigration legislation.
Senate Democrats and Republicans are working feverishly with the White House to put the finishing touches on an immigration proposal that could be announced later today or tomorrow. The deal would give illegal aliens living in the United States amnesty, according to confidential sources. It would also allow illegal aliens to bring their parents, spouses and children into the United States.
Multiple sources on Capitol Hill with knowledge of the proposal said Sen. Teddy Kennedy (D.-Mass.) has been able to extract significant concessions from Republicans. The critical part of the deal is a lengthy section that spells out the provisions related to Z visas -- or what my sources described as the Amnesty Title of the bill.
The Z visas would be broken down into three categories as follows:
Z-1 -- Illegal alien present and working in the United States up to January 1, 2007
Z-2 -- Parents and spouses of illegal aliens qualifying under the Z-1 category
Z-3 -- Children of illegal aliens qualifying under the Z-1 categoryRead on ...
One section of the proposal grants these Z non-immigrants four-year visas for an indefinite period of time. These (Z-2 and Z-3) visas would be given to people not currently in the United States if they are related to a current illegal worker.
Sources indicate that these aliens, along with their dependents, would be allowed to legally remain in the United States under certain conditions for an indefinite period of time, even if they chose not to pursue the so called pathway to citizenship.
The burden of proof would be low for illegal aliens to prove that they were continually illegally present in United States. This provision would reward the illegal alien for proving continual illegal presence and illegal employment in the United States with a Z visa. This provision in the Kennedy deal, approved by some Republicans, is clearly amnesty under any definition, according to immigration experts whom I consulted.
The proposal would require illegal immigrants to pay a fine to apply for the Z visa, but despite that penalty, conservatives are likely characterize this deal as a major sell out to Kennedy and his pro-amnesty allies.
This morning I called the White House, Hillary Rotten Crotch's office, along with Chucky Schmucky Schumer's office and my local Dem Congressman's office and voiced my objections. Not that it will matter, but at least I had my say.
Second cousin twice removed from the barrio!
I never understood the “twice removed” stuff...........

Get ready to be hosed fellow serfs: the pezzonovantes’ hired hands are almost ready with the douche-nozzle . . . just gotta load the bag ...
OK! Drop your linen & stop that grinnin’ boys & girls:
hands on knees, heads up, hold your breath aaaand-—BOHICA!
Let me guess, hmmmm...
This is my concern as well. Since our government has no idea how many illegals are here to begin with, and since the Amnesty Bill of 1984 proved to be ineffective, what guarantee will we have that those who fail to register for the Z Visa will be tracked down now and deported? We all know the government won''t pursue them. They haven't in the past, why would they start now?
Ruben Henjosa, D-TX, introduced a bill that would fund the National Council of La Raza, a pro-illegal immigrant group. The bill, The Hope Fund Act of 2007, (HR1999) would allot $5 Million to La Raza in 2008, an $10 Million each year thereafter.
So it looks like we have something else to tell our Representatives in Washington today.
“This is the order of progression. The probationary Z visas will be available immediately after this amnesty bill gets signed. The bureaucracy will rubber stamp everyone’s applications because they don’t have the resources or time to check out the forged and back dated documents they will be presented with
1-Probationary Z VISA
2-Real Z VISA
3-Green card
4-Citizenship”
IIRC, the ‘touch back’ comes between 1 and 2. And, IIRC, Hutchinson and Specter have ‘decided’ that the public outrage over amnesty, REALLY has to do with the ‘touch back’ coming AFTER Step 1!!
And IIRC, they’ve decided that if they make this one little change, put the ‘touch back’ as part of Step 1, then we will all be satisfied and the bill will receive support needed to pass.
Do I recall this correctly? I expect there to be some big announcement any time now at a pat each other on the back presser about how both sides have ‘seen the light’ and come to this big compromise that finally eliminates ‘amnesty’!!
They’ll go on and on, blowing smoke about how the illegals must return home and wait their turn at the end of the line, ‘amnesty’ issued fixed. What they won’t say is that the illegals will ‘touch back’, but wait in line HERE, so as not to inconvenience employers who’ve been hiring illegal aliens.
And, what I do recall is that this is the PENCE plan.
WRITE! WRITE! WRITE! WRITE! TILL YOU RUN OUT OF INK IN YOUR PEN!
Bombard the Democrats as well, especially the ones that ran on an anti illegal immigration plank and the ones in marginal districts who could be vulnerable. keep pounding on them. This is a bipartisan issue not a Conservative or Liberal issue BUT AN AMERICAN issue.
You must go home and come back to get a green card. With Z Visa you can stay here forever as long as you renew it and pay fees
The “return home” requirement will probably be whittled away after the bill is passed
>>How about those illegal aliens who dont register for Z VISAS? Will we be deporting them. Is there funding and personnel to do this?<<
The bill says that we taxpayers have to pay for immigration lawyers for them in the event they get detained. Doesn’t look like they want any deportations, but immigration lawyers are drooling.
A Ticking Social Security Time Bomb

Tell him that’s okay as long as he gives the same amount to the KKK, White Aryan Brotherhood, etc.
What I’m saying is that they’ve decided that the solution to the ‘amnesty’ complaints is to put the ‘touch’ back FIRST. And they’ll sell it by saying that since they all have to go home and wait in line, it’s not amnesty. They just won’t tell you that they don’t have to WAIT AT HOME.
PENCE PLAN:
“Workers here illegally now would need to leave the country and apply for re-entry. The program would be administered by private companies operating “Ellis Island Centers” outside the country.
The compromise has already won encouraging words from President Bush, and it could bridge the gap between a comprehensive immigration reform plan that passed the Senate in May and an enforcement-only bill passed by the House last December. The Pence-Hutchison plan would cut the Gordian knot of objections to “amnesty” by requiring that workers leave the country and re-enter legally after a short period of time rather than legalizing them while they are here.”

Kill the demand and you’ll kill the supply...but the demand for Mexican labor is at the economic base of both the GOP and DemocRAT parties. Thusly, you’ll never see it done.
The joke's on us. These traitors will say whatever it takes to push through this amnesty
“The return home requirement will probably be whittled away after the bill is passed”
Bank on it!
My far-left mother-in-law is even against the immigration bill, which totally shocks me. Of course she lives in Los Angeles and has her garage door grafitti'd at least once a week and has bums, hookers and transvestites hanging out by her door all the time (and they pee there all the time too).
